Summoner Quest Info Update

ALL CONFIRMED

- Fight ANY kind of leeches, it may drop an stone item. (May need to be clear weather when killing them) *confirmed*

- Trade the stone to a door of "House of the Hero" in WindWalls *confirmed*

- Event, quest offered. *confirmed*

- Go to different areas of the world when there is a certain weather element present (need 7 different ones). (Can even use chocobo as well) The catch is, the event will only happen during area change (teleport don't count) so you have to *enter* the area when the weather is already present.

(For example, if the weather changes from "Earth" to "Wind", just exit the area and come back)

- After experiencing all 7 elements, go back to WindWalls to finish the quest

I think what it means is that you have to bring the stone to experience 7 different weather effects in the game... (Never mind about the ??? part, don't need it)

Light, Dark, Water, Earth, Ice, Fire.....Wind? I've never seen Wind elemental before...or maybe I forgot

Light Elemental usuallly spawn in Qufim
Dark Elemental in Zvahl
Water Elemental in La Theine
Earth Elemental usually in Eldieme
Ice Elemental in Beaucedine/Xarcabard
Fire Elemental in Valkurm/CrawlerNest

Oh yeah, Wind Elemental is in La Theine...I haven't been to LaTheine for a while now since most of my lvl area are at Crawler'sNest and Eldieme :sweat:

Late last night someone was shouting about the leeches thing... said you had to kill them in Quifm. They didn't mention the Element part (And by Element Tongyang you meant different weather, not actual elementals I think?), but.... I worked hard tryin' to get it last night, and saw one person who had become a summoner, although they weren't summoning anything. :sweat: They also wouldn't tell anybody on how to become a summoner (were probably bombarded with tells). Anyway, keep us updated! :biggrin:

the item is called Karbuncle's (something... lol, dunno the translation)

I found it in Qufim, and my friend found his in Shakrahmi

oh yeah, and the requirements are Level 30+ in one or more jobs, and this item.

For people who want to do the quest, there's an NPC at Selbina who's standing on top of a house who can tell you what weather it is anywhere in the world, assuming you've been to that place already. I can't remember the name of the person, but I remember seeing her yesterday and I figured she was just another pointless NPC, but I suppose she's now very useful.

lol, some sites are now reporting that the drop rate for leech item is 1% - which means, you need to kill 100 of those for a chance of a drop - if you are lucky:)

I asked two persons hanging out in Lower Jueno last night to go to Qufim together to get the item.

Neither of them had been informed of the quest yet.

We hunted for Leechers there for 3 hours. We had many compititors there. I found a white mage in AF! :eek:

And the item was dropped only once then. And I lost in lotting in. :mad:
One of us didn't need the item, but another person needed it. He promised he would help me to get another item tonight. I hope we can get one then...
Two of as had Thief as support job of LV15 with Treasure Hunter ability.

Drop rate seems to be very low. Tonight will see harsh competition again.

When you have all 7, DON'T go back to Windurst, instead find Carbuncle at G-6 in La Theine. Trade the gem to the ??? and you will obtain summoner job plus Carbuncle.

I had a whole room to myself for 4 hours... no drop. There's been reports of drops from wadi, though, so I can only conclude that the lower the level, the lower the drop rate. Wadi would mean the lowest rate out of all places.

guys and girls, here's a friendly reminder :) When finish collecting the 7 lights (whatever that is) You need go to la theins around G6-G7 and trade the orb to ??? after that, u can change to summoner in moogle house. enjoy :)

Been hunting those damn bastards since about 12 in the afternoon with mumm in my team but no drop TT. I advise that NO ONE under lvl 42 go to Shakhrami to hunt them there because all the monsters would aggro a lvl 41 white mage there. Gonna go try again in a few.

Yeah, I was helping a friend look for it yesterday when the sun was still up, and now the sun is starting to come up again and still no drop. Whoever said it was 1% overestimated the drop rate percentage. I'll just wait a while until a good portion of the people get the item, since all that competition for leeches is enough to make anyone tear their hair out.

Went to tomairamai with 4 people... solo the whole area, got 2 drops in 4 hrs... (5 mins a pop X 4 pop places = 48 X 4 = 192 about) Luckily I am one of the 2, so I spent about 2 more hrs to get summoner quest done...
5 People in Evil already got summoner now, and increasing... So it is not impossible, but takes alot of time... The lvl up system is really really screwed up at lv61+ anyway... not gonna bother with my bard...

It does indeed take a lot of time. I put about 8 hours into getting carbuncles ruby. If you just want summoner for the novelty, try putting it off until competition dies down, which is the biggest problem. If you really need it for another reason, hang in there. It certainly is possible to get the item.

Advice:

LV5+ WAR sub for taunt (No exception. Not even Dia)
Shakhrami seems to be high drop rate
If you're willing to put time into it, dont give up! Or don't try at all..

What's up with the level up system? Is it an experience problem?

I don't have a problem with what they've done to sneak/invisible. It was too easy to go anywhere before. People were going places they shouldn't have been. This makes you be a bit more careful.

As for summoner quest. I partied with 3 people in Qufim and we got 2 drops in the first hour or so, then Qufim got really packed with warriors so it became impossible to even fight leeches. The drop rate in Pashhow seems terrible, though, if they even drop. I really like the weather idea too. But it will be tiresome if you have to do that for every summon ;)

you only need earth, water, fire, lighting, wind, and ice

ice =beaudince and xarcabard
lighting= pashow, jugner, davoi
earth=kon, valkrum and other places
water= latheine, and other places
fire= oz, rolenberry, valkrum
wind= latheine, tagarongi and other places

after you find all 6
go to G-6
and trade the ruby
and you get carbuncle for first summon

also you can hunt yugudos in OZ for the wind elemental summon
not as strong as carbuncle tho

lvl 1 move for carbuncle = heal health 10 ~ 6mp
lv 5 move for carbuncle = poison claw attack ~ 11mp

2hour use it then
summon get special move
move to ur summon move list and added move is there
it used up all my mp and killed enemy in 1 hit

Looks like Ninja could be hella hard. The unofficial reports are saying you have to go to Korroloka and Norg to get items. Korroloka may be easy, but Norg? I don't think so :(

for lvling summoner
weapons are dagger, 2hand staff, 1hand staff

summon menu:
summon atack
summon disenage
summon disappear
summon special attack

sub whm for smn
it is the bst sub i think
cuz smn has bad defense

use hp boosting stats for summoner
my hp is 66/66 Mp is 102/102 at lvl 7
use mp boosting stats if not taru

fight with the summon
i got 75-120 exp per battle
if u fight tsyou
be very careful
use cure often or u will die
the summon takes hits but enemy goes back to you

1 mp per sec drains

if summon dies ~ you must recast to get it back
you CANNOT sit down when you have summon
you will get red msg telling you ~you cant sit down
if you want mp call back your monster

summon does more damage then you

btw 6.5 hours hunting in shakrami for quest item
100-200 leeches killed

use any special attack~must wait 50-60 secs for next move

fire day~ is very rare

if u attack monster , summon auto attacks with you

if u get aggroed and you didnt attack, summon starts to attack before you do

summon has health

aggro usually goes back to you even tho summon does more damage, so watch ur health when lvling

i died a few times because of tsyuo

so my record is 32 hours for the rudy. I'm having an exam in the next 2 hours but i was in shakrami all night...

my 60THF friend came help me in the hunt. he /3SMN and summonned a carbunkle.
With my Refresh magic, his MP is all time 100% full and can keep the carbunkle forever. ^^; kinda fun.
anyway that's a level 1 summon pet.... dunno how fast the high level ones would drain our MP

If anyone is desperate, take some fishing equip and go to rolanberry, E-9, where the fountain of promises is. You can fish for leech there. Good luck!

OMG, I have been on for 10 hours just to get 2 more elements and I still need 1. I was told that the ice one would be the hardest but that proved to be wrong, it was really easy, the little bastard that is killing me is the stupid fire o ne. I was with Anavarin for hours trying to get it and at the end I screwed up and Ana was able to get it but not me ><. I am gonna go back in a few and try to get it. I am gonna take a rest first.

To get the element weather, zone into the weather. If it changed and you were in the area, zone out and back in.

Stats - what affects it? int/mind/chr? Being elvaan with whm sub gave a ton of MND as usual. Early stats seem similar to BST.

2h staff seems to be their best weapon, second best is 1h staff and dagger.

Need whm/mnk/pal sub to use their exclusive 2h staff skills though, ex: earth crasher. Making whm sub best.

Summon magic skill goes up each time you summon, no other ability seems to up it. Stronger the summon being called, more chance of skill up.

I talked to the guy in Hall of heros and showed the ruby, something happened then event over.

Then i went outside to experience "Fine" weather and was expecting to see an event, but never saw one.

I'm saying this because somewhere in this thread someone mentioned fine weather. If thats not the case, then are the following the weathers i need to experience?:

we were waiting in rolanberry when 2 fire elementals appeared, one in meriphataud and one in valkurm. ecko said meriph, but my ls mates were yelling at me to head to valk. maybe if we went to meriph we would have had more time... T.T

TT i tried to fetch thunder element in qufim. for some reason me and the people all around me all not getting events.

2 minutes running in and out and we got the emssege waring about maintenence telling us to log out... dunno if that the cause...

The thunder weather condition at Qufim won't work for some reason (maybe it's a bug). For now your best bet is to catch thunder weather at either Jugner, Sauromugue, or Konschtat.

it doesn't work becoz Qufim is being counted as half a dungeon, and you cannot get weathers from the dungeons, so it won't work in Bedo, Davoi, Oz, Zvahl, etc (half a dungeon becoz you cannot use escape in Qufim)

Edit: since Ranguemont is a dungeon, so i think it won't work there either, sorry for the post before

Yhea, I don't think Ranguemont works BUT if you enter Ranguemont Pass it does work, that is where I got ice for both I and hamasaki at 2 different times.

Astral Flow. What the hell does it do?

The only notable difference i saw was in the "special attack" menu, another special was added for the summon. In normal cases its cure but this does an attack, is this the 2hr special for smns?

yes. 2 hour ability of summoners is to enable the summonned beast's super attack.

Damn tho... That was some hella hard competing...

After killing many poison leeches, the Leech King spawned and started whooping the ass of an unwary monk. Be careful when you're in shak hunting leeches. You'll be taunting so hard you might piss this guy off... You don't want to if you're level isn't high :sweat:

Both 'Fire'?@?i?u‰Î?v) day and 'Stone' (?u“y?v) seem to be the days when Leeches drop ruby. So we'd better hunt for Leeches only on either of these days.
