View Full Version : Been playing too much...

Just like "We hate gilsellers" "Ingame couples" and "if FFXI were real/what to add to FFXI" the "You know you've been playing too much when..." threads will crop up.
This time I'm at fault.
But really, this one's funny...
sort of.
So I'm biking to work as I do whenever time and schedule allows for it, and I approach an intersection that's normally fairly empty.
Except today it's not, there is an ENOURMOUS traffic jam snarled up around the light today, for some reason. And just off the top of my head, I think "Damn the lag is hideous today."
Now in and of itself, the comment isn't that funny, but it took me a moment to realize what I'd just thought and why it was wrong.
The really amusing part was that I didn't even get on yesterday morning before work, like I usually do.

I've actually been watching a TV show and thought something like, "I can't believe you have to be level 18 to order that," or something to that affect. Thank God I didn't say it out loud...

1.) You assume your pet is a chocobo and think of them as a source of transportation.
2.)Whenever you do something such as waveing to someone you say "/wave"

I used to be heavily into Halo2, 4+ hours daily for over a year. I have several stories of what I've said IRL that related to Halo, but I can't quite remember them all. My very first one sticks out to me:
My dad called me in my dorm and asked when I was driving home for Christmas Break, and I told him, "Well my last final is on the 16th so I'll be back to base on the 17th or th 18th."
If I remember any more of them I'll post them.

I was watching TV with a friend (Whose house I took care of for two weeks), and there was a trip to China offered on the local news station. I was a stone's throw from saying "Fucking gilsellers", but stopped myself.

I find myself thinking (and almost saying) "lol" or "lawls" more and more nowadays.
Quite a few times I have been tempted to say (and said) party instead of group. It's a great way to attract random attention to yourself.
In driver's ed one day I was half asleep and I had FFXI on the brain. The teacher was explaining something about parallel parking and he was giving all these steps and instructions. I randomly asked in my mind "and who refeshes the whm?" And started to giggle when I realized what I had asked.
"Fucking gilsellers"
man, you say fuck a lot.
As for me, I'm developing a stategy in my head to defeat my thief brother of mine in ballista, while I'm on work-break. I think I've got it down! gonna have to make a macro for the list of spells....

I talk in internet terms sometimes.
I sometimes call real money gil.
I look for my compass in the bottom left of my field of vision.

Now that you mention it, I call real money gil, or more correctly, "gilzors" (my actual in-game term for gil. The -zor ending is kind of a linkshell thing. Gilzors, spellzors, boatzor...) inside my head. I don't think I've done it aloud yet...yet.

Ive though /wave
And I play planetside. Sometimes Ill want to switch to third person mode to see around a corner. I'll think that I saw a cloaker (invisible person) and the corner of an invisibility bubble.
I swear theres a bubble outside my back porch, I see it there every day.

I say for the win now in random conversations.
Had a dream last night about being in a RL besieged. The undead won and I had to go on a solo mission to rescue the prisoners. Most of the undead though weren't undead. They were just other people I was shooting with arrows. I even rememberd the changes to rng in the dream, I was concerned about missing a shot with an arrow when I was shooting at someone who was two feet away.

whoa planetside! Man I bought that at release then stopped playing cause the player numbers dwindled sooo fast and most the world was left untaken except for a few continents. How is it now?

I think the only slipups of this nature that I ever have are when I'm on the phone and playing. I've substituted mobs for something else I was saying (like, people? I guess) or spells or something for another noun. It's exciting, and more than a little bit embarassing.
Sometimes when I haven't gotten a lot of sleep and I have played a lot recently I'll kind of have those half dreams where you're playing but you're not, or whatever. It's either that or I dream that I'm still working.

Man, for some reason this happends to me all the time.
Atleast I'm not as addicted to this game as much as I was Phantasy Star Online.
I'd fall asleep, and this I was still playing.
I'd fall asleep in the middle of a room of enemies (Luckly my character had a ton of evasion) and I'd usually wake up and the enemies we're still trying to kill me and I'd only have about 28 hp left.
And as for this game sometimes I slip up around some of my friends and accidently use an abriviation like lol, raofl.
