Oooo, stop advertising? Is that allowed or not?
No it isn't. He's gonna receive a ban stick.
Doesn't look like advertising, did you guys even go to the site?
What do you know? "Cannot be found"
Now I probably have a virus on my computer.
Edit: didn't realize ....now was underlined too.
Hmhrm.
Still wanna complain?
Sure, why not.
Doing this would require giving my information out to a complete stranger on a forum website, which I have no intention of doing. It's like momma always said:
"Don't give out your information on the internet"
If the rest of you want to do this, to each his own.
Seems like a pretty elaborate ruse to steal ONE persons info.
if you actually looked, there's not even a form up for the contest. It's INGAME.
I really think you owe him an apology.
Nah, I'm holding to my point. :P For all I know, he can give everyone a /tell that they won!
Call it an assumption. I just think it's fishy that a stranger asks for personal information in an online game.

Hes explaining the contest on another website, how is that not advertising?
Hes explaining the contest on another website, how is that not advertising?
Yeah, it's blatant advertising.
ad·ver·tise (ăd'vər-tīz') http://content.answers.com/main/content/img/pron.gif
v., -tised, -tis·ing, -tis·es. v.tr.
To make public announcement of, especially to proclaim the qualities or advantages of (a product or business) so as to increase sales. See synonyms at announce (http://www.answers.com/topic/announce).
To make known; call attention to: advertised my intention to resign.
To warn or notify: “This event advertises me that there is such a fact as death” (Henry David Thoreau).
He's definately calling attention to this on a different website, thus advertising.
Advertising is generally accepted as being to push a product, such as to profit or sell, in everyday speak.

I can't see where he's asking for any personal info, and his radio station appears to be free to listen to, hardly a conventional 'product' for sale. If this is an ingame contest, the only personal details needed would be for the prize winner, and that only need be a postal address. If a commercial radio or tv station was having an FFXI promotion (like, say the FFXI potions) would that not be worthy of discussion on this forum? Sure he's plugging his station, but I think this is a relevant and topical post.

Stop whining about the radio station. It's legitimate and real and has been running for a while now.
I hate how bickery people can get on these fourms over thier e-pride. I for one am going to participate in this contest if i'm online at the time :D
