The ultra uber level 45 armour set for those of you who don't know its the HQ version of the Alumine set;
Head:Luisant Salade (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/6785)
Body: Luisant Haubert (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/6744)
Hands:Luisant Moufles (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/6736)
Legs:Luisant Brayettes (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/6802)
Feet:Luisant Solerets (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/6794)
I am finding it impossible to get one. Parts of the armour haven't been on the AH for months and the aluminium sheets needed for crafting have only ever been sold on the AH 4 times in the history of the server.
I know a high level crafter who is capable of making the set, I am also capable of mining (with a friend) the items involved but is it worth my time/effort to do so?
It is a really nice set and would be a great luxury to have. If I get it, how long is it likely to last me and what are the chances I will be able to sell it on when I am finished, although I would probably keep it given that you don't see many of them around.

It is a really nice set, but it's not really worthwhile to get all of it unless you just want it for bragging rights. The body you'd want to trade out for Haubergeon at 59 definitely. I'm not so sure about the other parts.
I mean, if you have the gil to spare, sure. But it seems like an awful lot of gil to spend on something that no one actually needs.
if you can find it and afford it, go ahead, but for the short time it will last you it is NOT worth the trouble you're making of it.

Im sure it will sell very quickly too rich players wanting bragging rights when the time comes to dump it on AH.
Now, I used to have a friend who played DRK from about 45-55 with me. Luisant is FAR beyond bragging rights.

Check the AH history for Aluminum ore most likley the crafters will buy that and make the sheets and the armour, the ores drop from BCNM 50's in monarch linn so yeah they arent all that common considering most ppl do the 40 cap ones their for a chance at woodsmans ring.
to make that more clear, he had a full set of the stuff. Apperently he's been playing two years, and puts so much effort into making gil and being his best, that's as far as he had gotten.
Anyway, he could put out numbers that, as a black mage myself, were awe-inspiring.
Double Post Edited:

sorry :3
I ~WISH~ I could have gotten my mitts on a few of these for my WAR, and my SAM. But the Body piece is like 10M right now, I'll just stick with the Jujitsu Gi for my SAM, and I'm pass this stuff for my WAR. If I had it to do all over again, and I had 25M to toss on this stuff, I don't think I'd buy more than the boots and legs.
Legs would be good until Lv.55 Breeches (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/1421), and the boots would be good for DRK & WAR until Lv.67 when Rutters (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/7045) are an option. Fuma's (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/2662) may be a better option if you're going to drop this kinda gil on your feet for SAM.
Body of course couldn't take the place of a Hauby (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/1394) at Lv.59. I found that the Ryl. Knight's Mufflers (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/1408) would be better for TP build, and any of the Gigas bracelets would be better for WS than the hands. And unless you have your hands on the Voyager Sallet (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/6253) the head piece would be O.K. option until AF Helm (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/2178). I would probably still stick with my Valk Mask (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/1447) though.
But that's just my 2 gil worth. Would look AWESOME if you got your hands on the whole set, and you'll probably notice a difference. STR+6 DEX+6 AGI-6 Acc+8 Atk+8 Eva-15 isn't bad for Lv.45, but again, Valk Mask (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/1447) almoust out does that Attack all by itself.

I love the Valkyrie's Mask but I have been unable to get one so far. Many Quadav have been killed in my quest for one but I rarely have any luck with NM drops in Beadeaux, spent a week killing Bi'Gho Headtaker when I wanted a Plantbane (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/383) before I took my warrior through the jungles.
Might go and have another crack at it.......... Ga'Bhu Unvanquished (http://ffxi.somepage.com/mobdb/2131) here I come
AFAIC... that set is by far the worst investment one could make for a DRK. I think even getting a demon harness (DRK JSE) is superior (When considering the options of purchasing an SH, Haubu or Hauberk or even any of the new ToAU gear)
I'm pretty sure I was going around in RSquires gear and was satisfied with it. I mean, seriously, there's nothing much for DRKs at those levels and I'd rather focus on the ringslots and the waist before getting too caught up trying to purchase something that runs in the millions...

This seems pretty impossible now. The mining spots in Newton Movalpolos are botted to hell. I might just get my friend to craft me a set of mythril +1 instead because you don't see many of those around and I did a rework on it a while back.
I probably won't use the full set for an xp party because I have a few better pieces (R.K gloves for example) but it would be nice for sitting around Jeuno/Whitegate or when I am helping friends.
Edit: Found a pic of the mythril rework I did. Its had the silver changed to red, the straps are now golden and the visor is now has proper transparent sections. I started doing a damaged version a while back, maybe I will finish it if I get the set.

Makes you wonder how SE placed those spots. Considering everything there should aggro a 75...

 Getting this Mythril +1 set is proving harder than I thought and my level is slowly increasing whenever I get the chance. I have most of the ingredients (enough for everything but the boots) however my friend who was going to craft the set for me has gone away.
Maybe I'll just go back to getting a Pluto Staff until he gets back...... :vent:
On a seperate note, how is the new Jaridah Peti set working out? I think it looks awful but the stats are pretty nice so I might grab it when I get that far.

It's very good. I went for that other one though, the +5 STR +5 AGI and increases critical strikes. I've been crit'ing every 3 hits so far on average, some of them uber big ones (300sh)

Yeah it a good set of armor, no doubt. But its super hard to het, and in the end, just not worth the time or effort for a crafter to mass produce. Haubergeon, on the otherhand, is easily made from materials you can gather normally. The only person I have seen on Fairy server with this armor is President, he made the set himself.
IMO, SE is makeing a patch job of FFXI by adding all this armor that is nearly impossiable to obtain/useless. Never taking anything out or chainging, just adding stuff on top of everything that is there already. Ever look at the AH armor list and see so many useless pieces of armor? That has to hurt crafters, not to mention the variety of the game.3

There are alot of good armour sets that just aren't used often enough by players because of the mentality the general populous has. If you're a certain job at any particular level everyone the same job as you will all have the same gear. When was the last time you saw anybody wearing a studded set at level 30 or a Cuir set in the mid 30s? Both are reasonable sets and can be bought from NPCs.
One of the reasons I want my mythril +1 set (and the Luisant set too but thats mainly for stats) is that you hardly ever see someone wearing them. Yes I'll have better armour to wear when I party but just for doing random stuff, helping people, quests, sitting in a town chatting or lfp I would like to stand out from the crowd. This is one of the main reasons I would rather run around town naked than wear my rdm af, everyone is wearing it, even idiots that should never of made it past level 30.
Yes I'm one of those people who removes a helmet when chatting to people, I just see it as being polite but I'm definatly not the type to run around making sure that everyone checks me as often as possible so they can see my "1337ness".
One of my other reasons for wanting the mythril +1 set is that I don't think any self-respecting drk should wear the I.M set. I mean its got paladin written all over it (literally in the case of my friends custom set I did for him). It offers no good stats for a drk unless you're spamming bloody bolts.

Your right about the IM set, the only part I ever wore was the head.
I was wearing Birgadine (I think) until level 55, for RK Chainmail.
Yes, your right that drk should NOT wear IM set, just because its all shiny and paladin-esq. I totally agree.
However, given the choice between running through town naked, and in rdm AF, I would chose the AF, for the same reason you take your helmet off when chatting.
Maybe I was a little to harsh when I said "Useless", but how many people out there wear Raptor mantles and Studded armor? not many, and I don't think its because of the mentality of the players. There is better armor out there at that level, and players will always wear things because of stats, not looks.
btw, imo, Haubergeon looks like ass :3
