Yes, you use the headset. You can talk one on one with other 360 users who have the headset. You cannot randomly talk to just anyone.

It works like XBox live. Basically get a headset and talk to people, should be able to find one at bestbuy. If you were playing on PC, would have to purchase Ventrillo or Teamspeak.

Erm... Just in case you didn't know this, in order to communicate with anyone who's not on Xbox Live with a headset (PS2 users, PC users, etc.), you'll want to get a keyboard. There's a software keyboard you can use with controller, but it's really too slow to be of any use in most situations.

I've met a Taru on my server called Darkages. Anyway, I don't see why you'd want to talk to other players, you'll most likely sound squeaky and whiney and thats not the impression a manly elf wants to give. Just use your controller or keyboard to type stuff in.
