Just dinged 55 tonight....FINALLY! I swear I'm the slowest leveler ever.
Anyway, this was my first experience using slugwinder. Wow, just wow. Did my first quadruple digit damage too. I was quite excited. Anyway, wanted to show off and just express how much I love this weapon skill. Huzzah for all Rangers!

congrats! I remember my first 3 digit hit with my monk and as for slow levelling, well it took me 6 months to get war to 31, mnk to 28, theif to 15, drk to 14 and rdm to 19. a ls mate did all that in 1 month.

lol, Congrats Caspian. I remember my first Sidewinder/Slug Shot too.

EXP party first Sidewinder did 1,832 damage. Just shows how insainly powerful RNGs really are against flying mobs. These were bats that were still IT then, get out those good high numbers on flying all the time.

First Slug Shot on a IT Worm was about 1,100 damage. It was nice more then I was expecting to get.

I know, I can't wait to get myself an Ebow and start xp'ing on Lesser Colibri. They're just begging for some arrows in the head.
On the downside it is making me rework how exactly I hide the hate line. I had to wait until Slugwinder would either finish them off, or near kill them. At the time though it was with dual WAR/NIN tanks spamming Rampage. (I actually think this could be considered my first experience with a TP burn party.) So, I couldn't really let loose how I wanted to. I'm really wanting to try the coveted Sidewinder >> Barrage >> Sidewinder. If the first Sidewinder and all arrows from Barrage connect, then I'm only one arrow away from 100% TP again, and another Sidewinder.

Question about food now, before this I could usually eat meat dishes and not have much trouble. I was eating meat last night b/c we had a brd in the party and I was usually getting Prelude and Min. I'm subbing WAR (not that that extra 10 r. acc. from another Hawkers would really do a lot), but should I be sticking with sushi for a while (atleast until AF body and maybe a trailers or something?) And, what TP % should I be shooting them at depending on what food I am eating? With meat and Prelude I was waiting until around 125% and had almost no problems at all getting them to hit.

As far as my experience when I eat sushi from 61-69 :
once the TP bar is blinking . immediatetly slug the mob :D

I don't know whether you can do that after the patch. But obviously.. in pre patch I can guarantee 90% success by doing so in exp PT

Yeah, Sidewinder and Slug Shot you don't get to use whenever you like as RNG/WAR if you are RNG/NIN you get to but the damage is weaker also. For a RNG/WAR though if you have an excellent PLD tank you can generally shoot off Sidewinders when the mob is about 3/4 health remaining. Thats only with good PLD tanks though, the crappier ones or if it's a NIN tank then you shoot loosely till the mob is about 1/2 way then the tank should have enough hate that you can safely dish out that massive damage.

That methods been working fine for me we down mobs so insainly fast I never get a chance to do Sidewinder>Barrage>Sidewinder. Even when I start sidewinder at start of the fight intentionally drawing hate I never get to use the second sidewinder on XP parties (Mob dies before i get to or they are so low on health it would just be a waste of a Sidewinder to use then).
