Making a copy of FFXI PC?

I asked a friend of mine and he said he couldn't copy it because the cds are protected. Is it possible to make a copy or an iso and such of FFXI PC? Thanks.

It is NOT illegal , by law as long as you OWN a piece of software you can legally by law make 1 backup copy of that piece of software. I've done it just incase something happens to my FFXI cd's.

Well I already have the PS2 version, so I just want to see if I could get a copied version of the PC so I can play my PS2 account on the computer.

It's not illegal to make 1 backup copy it's in the copyright if you read it. However, it is illegal to make a copy for distribution as the case of this thread sounds to be. If a copy is made and distributed even to one person that is pirating, and last I checked it is illegal with a penalty of something like a year inprisonment if caught.

Umm I'm not an importer if you are talking to me. And if I was I don't think it would be illegal anways because I would have bought it legitimatly through a store and I would have the correct address and everything so that they could bill me for whatever I buy. So :P

Sorry Sharkblade, but if SquareEnix's copyright is like anyone elses. Then it's still illegal, the account you setup is most likely valid only to the device you licensed it for. So to include the account on more then one device technically requires you to buy that license, which basically means you got to buy the PC version if you want it to be legal. That area seems to always be a gray area for a lot of people. Depending on the companies copyright that could be ok, but it could be considered illegal to risky if you ask me.

although SquareEnix's copyright forbids the distribution of it.

I have a FF XI box that has an account that has been banned (due to some stupidity of another friend's parents in Japan), so the box is totally useless. Hence there is an unused extra copy laying around, so please PM me and we will discuss this.

There are no games out there that cannot be copied, there are no cd protections that cannot be overcomed. I will tell you exactly how to make your one backup copy of ffxi as long as you own it.
Clone CD combine with ClonyXXL will let you copy any cd protection out there if you have a good burner. I will get back ont the subject, i am scanning ffxi now to find out exactly what type of cd porctection is on it. As for clone cd you can download it off download.com.
