I think we should all organize a massive in game celebration. How about fireworks spam in Sarutabaruta on Starfall Hillock?

All you hayv to do is drink this whole bottle of booze, then grab a pole and spin around and around and around and around and around and around and around, then you have to run from one side of jeuno to the other, without falling and breaking your neck! Then you have to vomit on someone, you and this someone will get 2 nice presents each!1 So!! GO! and stuff.

Player uses a Bottle o' Booze.
Player gets the effect of Lollerskaytz.

Player reached the pole! Player is spinning around like a crazy monkey!!
Player is going for the goal... player spots a hyped mithra!! Player throws up on her!

Moogle: Congratulashons!1 here's ur presentz:

You obtain a Pappillon
You obtain a chocobo ticket
You drop the chocobo ticket
Player uses a Pappillon

The person who says it resets after 600 was obviously lying, the game was well into the 800s at least when it started. I beleive when I started it was in the 930s..

If the game were set in the 600s, we'd be *before* the shadow war...

I foresee one of two scenarios:

1.) Due to the failure of SE to anticipate Y1K, all software was written using only the last two digits of the year. Thus, when the year dings 1000, all player gil will be reset to zero, inevitably resulting in an AH crash.

Jeuno will be barren, and overrun with rabid tigers watering at the mouth in search of unsuspecting taru. Players will resort to scouring the post-apocalyptic wastelands of Vanadiel for food and shelter.

Militias headed by warlords will spring up in the outer reaches of the world in the absence of government. These warlords will control all access to provisions and shelter as they battle to the death with eachother over territory.

In time, the dominant warlord will control all of Vanadiel, and reign with an iron fist.

Or.. 2.)

We’ll have to deal with a few drunk and unruly moogles :P

I fear airships will cease working due to the Y1K bug. Cid should have foreseen this!

About 2.5 months ago, I thought about doing a special FFXIO event/thingy to commemorate Y1K. But, it was forgotten and I was lame. Oh well.

I did send a suggestion to SE to make an event for it though. It was when TAU was just released so it was probably forgotten/ignored.

I could see it as everything goes back 1000 years. o.o Reminds me of the War of the Magi kind of in FFVI. o.o

"1000 years ago during the War of the Magi, two so-called Atma Weapons exsisted. One changed a persons power into a sword. The other was a monster bred for mass destruction."

2004 was awesome, I have no idea why they changed it in 2005. I missed out on the part where they capped your job at lvl 1 and warped you off to some random dungeon. I had to do my advanced job quests instead

A) Send everyone to jormy to get eaten.
B) Ban everyone.

what I think will happen, 4 GMs will appear on each server they will be the harbingers of the apocalypse. They will battle the players openly in the streets of the cities. Only after they are beaten into submission with they then turn to do the bidding of the players and smite the RMTs.

Heh, I hoped to get my computer back in time to be there for Y1k, and I thought it'd be fine if it arrives on June 30. I forgot that the year change was in the early morning of June 30, not the night. And just when I realized that, vanaNavi said it was 1000.01.01.

Happy Year 1000 everyone. Did anything cool happen?

For stuff like this you had to make your own fun. There was a guy in Bastok Markets that was using up his fireworks like crazy, and some people were /shouting "Happy New Year" and stuff like that.

One player said that King Ranperre didn't rise from his tomb and Windurst didn't bomb Bastok so the doomsayers were all wrong.

I tried to keep it going by saying that I should've gone to Jeuno, that Cid had built this giant metal ball and was going to drop it from the Ru'Lude Gardens.

And I found out my imported Japanese Hori Vana'diel Clock is Y1K compliant.

Oh well, for what it's worth, Happy New Year everybody.

At least tonight [GM]Dave knocking back the whiskey. More so.
