Favorite Place to Mine?

Just wondering where everybody likes mining and why.

My personal favorite is Gusgen. I always get 4-6 Darksteels coming out of there, and terrorizing gilsellers in fun.

I don't tend to mine very often, but when I do, I go to Gusgen. I think I'm drawn to the terrain somehow. The tracks for the railcarts, the ghosts, the wooden constructs and the deadends make it a "fun" place to mine for some reason.

[e d i t] Perhaps it's the false sense of danger created by the haunted atmosphere, while Ifrit's Cauldron has an entirely realistic sense of danger (Ha!) and you'd have to be a little insane to mine there frequently.

Wow, the outcome has surprised me. Although this poll is in the Mining/Digging forum, more than half of the people who voted said that they mine. That's really interesting.

in terms of ease and relaxing, zeruhn mine. Can always find mining spots there. Altho the stuff you can get are pretty cheap

I average around 3 darksteel ore per hour in Gusgen. Not bad gil wise but finding a mining spot is such a pain there -.-

zeruhn has to be my favourite, must be because on my second swipe of the pickaxe when I started I got a darksteel ore. |I was so happy!!

I like to mine in the Grotto. It is close to my home nation and usually not many
people there. I probably don't get as many "big money" ores as Gusgen, but
I think I make up for up by making the iron ore into ingots, then sheets.

I just can't stand mining in Gusgen against all the competition. Mining is somewhat
relaxing for me.

YG was my hangout in my Mining Days. I did almost nothing but mine for almost 6 months last summer. I got all my Gobbiebags and leveled a lot of crafts. YG is my mine of choice because of the relatively low competition, proximity to Sandy, and lack of Mining Bots.

I've been there and trust me, you wouldn't like it.

All the mobs con as IT to me and I don't have a map of the place, as it's almost impossible to get a key there x.x

Oldton is fine though, all the mobs con as too weak, so I don't have to worry about aggroing, and the music is the same as newton, so there you have it!

Wouldn't be surprised though if Newton has more rarer drops than oldton, just because the area is for the highest level people.

You will still aggro at 75 in newton I believe. However, you can mine aluminum ores there.

Zeruhn is the only place I seem to be able to stand mining. The points aren't spread out and competition isn't too bad. And I can do it on my mule. She looks fancy in Field Gear.

On my server, there's an equal amount of miners at Gusgen and the Grotto, so I usually go to Gusgen due to my familiarity of the area.

I like to mine in Halvung. I lost about 10,000 EXP doing it, but it was just my WHM sub, which was already higher than it needed to be for subbing at 75. The thing that sucks about halvung mining, is that 3 of the mining points are in places where you have to pay really close attention to the trolls and toss invis on yourself if they start moving toward you. There's also one other point that's in between two bombs, so you have to worry about magic AND sight aggro.

Why is it that I can beat on a rock with a pickaxe silently, but I can't do it invisibly? o.O

Currently i like Mount Zhayolm, its a little of a chalenge avoiding aggro, but its not nearly as painful as Ifrit's Cauldron and im able to make a better profit here, and very low compatition, i only noticed one other miner and he helped with the respawns. note that ive only mined here for a day, but i have made 200K, but i also spent 1K IS and 3k ish xp to mine here,. (im looking for diferant sources of income since farming fails and my previous gil making endevors dont work anymore)
