What a truely interesting server I'm on! So far I'm Mnk17, War10, Thf7, and I'm doing pretty well in terms of money, missions, and experience. Anybody willing to help me out with obtaining a Magicked Skull? I think I'm probably going to have a good amount of trouble with it, but I'll probably end up waiting for my friend to catch up with me and we'll duo Gusgen or something.

I was gonna level up some lowbie jobs - but I think I might avoid the dunes for a bit till some of these idiots are a bit higher. There is a real lack of understanding about sub jobs at the moment - I partied with a thf/whm the other day (who was so uber, but my Boost SA Combo was pwning his damage...)

Also let us not forget, the level 20 subless ones. Honestly, Aelathir, I don't know how you can keep going through the dunes...

I think it's not so bad once you get the sub job and have it properly chosen and leveled. It seems like I'm getting invited to better parties now that I can contribute a bit more.

I just don't worry that much about what the people around me are doing. If a party sucks too bad, I leave it. So that might have something to do with things.

That's my secret. I don't. :P THF MNK and WAR were all soloed past the dunes. And my mage jobs went through too fast for it to be much of a hassle. I partied as PLD the other day because people practically begged me. And the parties weren't so bad. But any job that I have that can solo to 20, does solo to 20.

Slower? Maybe. But I'm in no hurry.

I claimed him a few times. No drop, so rather than waste who knows how much time, I just opted to spend the gil that I'd raised and buy them. I'm happy with my purchase though, so no worries. :thumbsup:

Got to know the tricks of Goldsmithing. There's an item sold in shops that desynths into bronze NQ and brass HQ, which is 15k and 30k a stack respectively. The item sells for around 100gil, and the lightning crystals pay for themselves after the first few synths. There's almost always an item in a shop that sells for dirt cheap that you can desynth, then resynth for skill ups, or just desynth to sell. Mining is a good idea as well, though it doesn't pay off quite so quickly. Even so, I'm still only 1/4th the way through paying back the cost of the boots. Which is nice seeing as how I'm still relatively new to the server.

Bastok is really awesome for skilling up Goldsmithing. My skill up and successful desynth rates are crazy with synthesis support. It's like free money if you know where to look. People say it can cost a lot, but frankly, I spent more on Bonecrafting on Seraph to get where I am now in Goldsmithing, but I guess the materials just aren't as accessible.

As for nin Sub... what lvl was he again? If hes like 12-18 than he should be subbing mnk. Because it'll be awhile before 20. 19 I can understand.. though honestly.. if it was me, I'd go war/mnk until 24 when I got shadows, than dual-wield axes.. everyone has their preferences.

1. You're right, there's nothing wrong with keeping other weapons leveled. After your A weapons are up to date.

2.) /NIN at that point in the game is worthless. No, Dual Weild 1 (with swords ten levels below yours) at that point isn't a reason to sub it. Sub MNK, or prepared to be Gimpy McGimperstein. Save your NIN sub for post Utsusemi if dual tanking, or even better, for the post 30 levels.

So, after LFG for a couple of hours on BLM (excitement!), I got an invite from this Summoner for a party in Qufim. I head out, join up with the party after being met by the RDM (Leorio), at the entrance to the zone. He was really nice, and escorted me to camp, thus saving me some gil on Silent Oil.

Anyway, one fight in and the WAR dies almost immediately to a bad pull. We have two WHMs, one of which is 25, but randomly AFK (hence the death). We wait a while for her to come back, and in the meantime the SMN wanders off. Then this conversation occurs:
