It says there is a problem with the Hard Disk data.

What I say:
Please make sure that you have enough disk space.
You may want to run check disk: chkdsk /f (or /r if you are paranoid)
Or you may need to UNINSTALL and REINSTALL the game, making sure the directories are clean.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr, this is driving me insane..............no ffxi for a week so far. Ive wiped the hard drive countless times.............and I'm still getting the original error. Pol installs fine, I get to this screen and press the play button (where the cursor is) and it goes through the file checking and starts to patch, after about 10mins of download patching I get the error in the post below. I dunno wtf is going on, i've reinstalled FFXI plenty of times before with no probs.

Things to check:
1.) Make sure you have read and write access to the folder and that permission is not denied to you.
2.) Make sure directory has FULL CONTROL access to the SYSTEM account and is not denied to the SYSTEM account.
3.) Ensure you have enough disk space on your Hard Drive, both in your temporary directory and on POL.
4.) Ensure that you do not have Disk Quota on, OR if you do have it on, make sure you have not reached your disk quota limit.
5.) Ensure that your disk does not have any bad sectors (run "chkdsk /r")
6.) Ensure that you have set your "Language for Non-Unicode Programs" to Japanese.
7.) You have installed and run with the correct Language setting: Japanese.
8.) Make sure that your virus scanner has not detected a virus and is preventing you from using the software.
9.) Ensure you are not infected with a virus that may be interfering with your system.
10.) Ensure there are no other software that may be interfering with downloads or patching.

You may want to run the game as an account in the ADMINISTRATOR group or the POWER USERS group.
You may also want to check your LOCAL SECURITY POLICY and ensure those security policies which are enforced are not prventing you from running the game properly.

Ok, thanks again for the input, i'll go over those points this weekend. Sidenote............. ive now done a low level format of the harddrive, and am still getting the same error although its not happening until about 50% patched now............I'm starting to think the data on my install cd's has corrupted, in which case Im screwed.:(
