2) where is it? i was the area something like Rivera site # i dunno where that is or how to get there

3) around what lvl does the dmg of the GK start to render it useless? or is it good all the way?

You must trade Cluster Tar to a ??? in Riverne Site #B01, which is capped at level fifty, so your level seventy-five friends wont be of so much help. It takes about six to twelve peole to take it down, the more the merrier obvoiusly, but I've heard of six people doing it. It's got about a 50% drop rate, which is nice, and can last all the up through the sixties until the Hagun. It works best for /Rng and /War subs, but not so well for /Thf.

Just a lil somethin:

Dont let it auto-destruct.
It can blow up 3 times, each time the drop rate decreases, apparently. If it blows up completely, you get nothing.

So.. better get stunners. BLU seems like a good job for the deed, and BLM, and DRK, and people with Stun WSs.

I did this yesterday. I suggest you take a THF with you aswell for ensured drops.

We were 5/5 on drops.

We did it with about 15 people. It was a walk in park so long as you have at least 2-3 stunners. Anyone engaging the Unstable Cluster should have /nin It likes to spam Circle of Flame. We used a NIN and PLD tanking team. They did very well. Very few deaths.

As for the Soboros Flexability. I am not sure. I am currently lvl 30 Samurai. I've just been outfitting it with gear before I get to needing them.

Note that you'll need to be well into your Chains of Promathia missions (chapter 4 if I recall) to access Riverne Site #B01. If you have not completed the missions up through that point, you cannot enter the zone, and cannot get the Soboro Sukehiro.

It's a real useful weapon up til Hagun as was stated and great for /rng mainly. For farming purposes (if you do farm mobs as most people prefer doing bc fights instead), it's great for that fact that once you get kasha you can solo light renkei mobs (if they live long enough) and do fairly fast damage over all.

Also, it's great for level capped events, especially if you decide to help friends in parts of CoP that are 50 and 60 capped or if you have some capped missions left to do. It's one of those gktn that every sam should have for the sake of having because you never know when it could be of great benefit.

Drop rate is 100% if you can prevent the bombs from exploding at all.

Didn't know about drop rate decreasing as it self-destruct. Interesting.
We tried to stun it just to stay alive lol.

Does anyone have any images I want to take a look at this weapon.

This is an older post, but can someone confirm this? Is the drop rate 100% if you can keep it from exploding?

Sample size is fairly small (statically speaking), but my LS has never failed to obtain a Soboro Sukehiro when we stunned the NM correctly (around 10 times?), and usually do not get that two-handed katana when we failed to stun the self-destruct (about 5 or 6 times?).

BLU is not reliably enough as a stunner. Bring DRKs and BLMs, and set up a stun order. BLU makes a great backup stunner, though, since recast timer on Headbutt is short enough that it can practically attempt to stun every self-destruct.

Cool, can a 6 person party take this no problem as long as we have a drk, blm, and blu?

Probably not.

The NM hits fast, and can dish a great deal of AoE damage, and the stunners need cut back on other activities to focus on stun.

We always set up two tanks for this, and have multiple healers and DDs spread out to two, two and half parties.

Unless it was changed in the last year or so, it is not 100% under any circumstances, even if you Stun the Self-Destructs. The drop rate IS higher though. I have personally witnessed a no-Destruct kill that didn't drop a Soboro, however.

Just some additional advice; anyone who wants to be in melee range of the Unstable Cluster must be /NIN. I don't care how useful they say they are. Utsusemi will absorb his Circle of Flames attack.

Anyone who's in range who isn't /NIN ends up being an MP sponge, in a level capped zone where a lot of MP recovery isn't available aside from Refresh or Evoker's Roll.

Keep that in mind when building your party.

Man, I didn't realize that it would be such a pain to get one of these. Was hoping our static could do it while we romped through our COP missions, but it looks like it'll take more planning then that. Bummer.

1) is it hard to get? I have some 75's in my LS that can lend a hand:

If you have the right people and good stunners, it shouldn't be that difficult to get. Bring at least 2 parties for the fight, maybe more.

2) where is it? i was the area something like Rivera site # i dunno where that is or how to get there:

Riverne Site B01. It's right off of Miseraux Coast so you NEED to be on a certain mission in CoP in order to access the area.

3) around what lvl does the dmg of the GK start to render it useless? or is it good all the way?

It's useful at all levels. It really shines at level 50 and you can keep using it as you level up. However, when you do hit 75, it becomes a more situational weapon that really depends on what you're fighting. If you want to get really fast TP-gain and aren't concerned with how much TP you're feeding the mob, go with the Soboro Sukehiro. However, if you're fighting an NM or an HNM and don't want to feed the mob TP, then your best bet is the Hagun if you can afford, or the Shinsoku.

4) in your opinion is it worth it to get? i hear its quite good for /rng but im doing /war and /thf:

It's great for all subs. /RNG only sticks out due to TP-fest -> Sidewinder. TP-fest-> Sidewinder, etc.. The only thing that really does is get you killed in exp parties though, so I wouldn't worry about it.
