I have got a fishing pole and bait but I can't seem to reel anything in, any help.

for starter, make sure you're using bait that actually attract fish in the water you're fishing at.
little worm for fresh water
lung worm for sea water.
Once the fish bites, it will pull your rod to left and right. you have to push direction buttons in the opposite way to fight them down. When you get their stamina bar down to 0, press accept or enter.
