i dinged 36whm on my galka the other night and quested my mea / dem / holla scrolls, a lot of running around, but the quests were relatively easy to complete
so ... yesterday afternoon, i carved out a space at the bottom of the stairs in lower jeuno next to the moghouse sign as my taxi stand
i had a great time!
after about an hour or so, i got my macro's worded to my satisfaction
nothing fancy ...
just "teleport-mea teleport-dem teleport-holla" is my advertising shout, which i would spam once every 5minutes if there was no other taxi's around
when i get tele's myself i like expediency, i like being treated like a limo customer rather than a public bus customer, so every one of my tele's are mostly 1 customer, unless several ppl are going to the same crag
if i do pickup more than one customer for a crag, and the other passengers are dilly~dallying away ... i'll teleport asap once one of the customers are at my stand
i don't charge a set price, but rather, in my 'gather together @ guidestone' macro, i will ask for donations to my 'so~and~so~fund'
i recieved unexpectedly BIG donation from a thf customer, i was hesitant to accept, but he insisted ... i was very appreciative ^^

i would make small talk in the short time that customers would party up and be teleported, i find it rather enjoyable ... most ppl are willing to do a little banter with you ^^
... tele~taxi has given me another opportunity to meet some more people on ifrit
all you tele~taxi's reading, do you enjoy your taxi~time? ... i do very much ~

Haven't gotten my whm quite that far yet. I refuse to level higher without Erase, which I refuse to pay for and am praying for a BCNM drop on. However, I do *appreciate* all the nice Tele-Taxis that have jetted my lil summoner behind across the world over the months. Much <3 to you all.

You meet a lot of interesting people Tele-taxing, especially if you don't set a price, and just accept what people feel is fair. The most interesting ones I've found are usually the RSE customers who end up getting teleported over and over and over.
A suggestion if you havn't already, I used to always do teleports in order from highest paying customer to lowest paying if there were multiple destinations. Its a great way to give people that little extra service for the little extra they gave. Usually I would do this by specificly thanking the highest paying customer in /p, too. Most appreciate it.
Another thing that I have done, is I'll set a "reserve price" sorta thing. Basicly, this is a price that I don't advertise, but if anyone pays that much gil or more, then I will teleport them immidiately without making them wait for a full party. I don't advertise it 'cause I don't want to be seen as soliciting for more gil, but I have always used it as just another way to go that extra mile and set yourself appart from the other taxi services.
Hope that helps you in your endevours :)
good to see someone enjoying teleport taxi-ing. Lately everyone I talked to seem to hate doing it.

I really look forward to doing it. I already have the Holla scroll. Odd story to that one. I was in a party in Qufim at lvl 24 whm, and the ninja says, "Do you need the Tele-Holla scroll?" I said I was going to quest them all once I got to the appropriate level to use them, as I didn't have the MH space to waste on scrolls I couldn't use for another 10+ levels. He says "I've got a spare Tele-Holla scroll, I'll send it to you after pt." I stared at him for a minute or two, then said "Those are kinda expensive. I could pay you for it, you know. I don't feel right taking things." (Which is true, I hate it.) But he flat refused. I offered to pay at least three more times, then found the scroll in my box the next day, since I logged directly after the party broke.
I don't remember his name, I kinda wish I did, but I'm really thankful for how nice he was. ^_^

you know how it's sometimes better in an xp pt to chain T-VT mobs very fast versus taking longer to kill an IT mob for higher xp?
i feel the same holds true for tele~taxi
just keep turning over the customers as quickly as you can and i believe you can make more consistent gil
also if you tele~taxi on a regular basis, i would suggest finding a regular spot you park your taxi ...
i find that the more consistent you are with your service, the more people will tend to remember you, the quicker your turnovers
in the two days that i've been tele~ing ... i've really shaved my macro's down to barebones
i invite
/p @ {guide} {stone} NW steps
/wait 1
/p i'm saving for raven~gear, any help would be appreciated ^^ ( or i would substitute whatever is on my wishlist )
when i can target the customer, i give them a /wave
as soon as customer is next to me, i hit my tele macro
this window of time seems to be more than sufficient for a customer to tip me
with some of the new players it's not enough time, in those cases, i'll give them a few more moments after the tele to offer a tip, if not ... i just get back to work
/p {take care}
/wait 1
/bow
/p {you're welcome} ^^ ( if they thanked me)
/p {see you again!}
/wait 3
/ma "Warp" <me>
as far as earnings, i'll try and estimate from the two days i've been tele~ing
i think i've had about ~40 some odd customers
avg tele i'd say is 1000g or 2000g
i'd say about 2 in 10 customers will tip 3000g+
and i've recieved 2x wow~tips in the time that i've been in business ^^
i really find tele~ing to be relaxing, even when there are other teleporters around ... i even banter with them sometimes and i've actually made friends with a few already ~
another fringe benefit is, since you are in town for an extended period of time actually paying attention to the town spam, i am getting a good feel for the ppl that i see running around me
the spammers for instance, really draw attention to themselves .. and i believe spamming is a tell tale trait of people to avoid, at least for me
i have no one on my blist ... i prefer to be constantly reminded of who to avoid o.O
tonight i might mix it up a bit by cooking while tele~ing
for readers of ffxionline, no charge for tele's for anyone that /slaps me !!!
