Play Online + modchip

I´m planing to buy FFXI when it come to europe but im not sure if the servers scans the ps2 after modchips (like xbox live does). Anyone knows?

It most likly wont since the japanese one doesnt

The main problem isn't the game checking for a modchip. It's that the disc to format the HDD so you can install FFXI won't boot on a foreign system, even with a modchip. You also can't have someone else format the HDD for you because it's keyed to the system that formatted it and won't work with a different system until it's reformatted on that system.
