Sorry if there's an official thread for this, but I had to post it. If there is one, lemmie know and I'll post it there.

Now this was my seventh fight (!), and my third for the night. I think I was lucky for a couple reasons. First, there was a pt of jps killing everything in the area around the thf's knife, and they let me join and gave me rdm testimony when it dropped (the last time we had to kill like 13 tanks for the drop). The second reason is Maat was really retarded with his spell choices, and also few of my spells were resisted.

I went in with marrion glaze, 4 yagudo drinks, and 2 super ethers. Used the glaze, 2 drinks and an ether.

My strategy the first time was to buff up a little and then run to him. After a couple tries of this, I decided to always run straight for him before doing anything to sleep him. I also learned from my second to last battle. In that, I tried putting up pro4 and shell4. I got him down to about 10% hp before I was out of mp and if I hadn't done those spells, I would've beaten him.

One thing I think I did wrong this fight was to try to gravity in case all else fails. It was resisted every single time and ended up using a good chunk of mp.

Ok, here's the lowdown:

me: Sleep 2, maat is alseep
me: Dispel, dispel his stoneskin
me: Gravity- resisted!
me: Blink
me: yagudo drink
me: Bind, maat is bound
me: Aero3, 356 dmg

Maat: poison2

me: Sleep2- resisted!
maat is no longer bound
me: Sleep1, maat is alseep (Thank God)
me: Gravity- resisted!
me: Bind, maat is bound
me: Aero3, 356 dmg

Maat: Stoneskin
maat is no longer bound
me: Sleep2- resisted!
one of my shadows obsorbs the damage
stoneskin wears

Maat hits me for 54 dmg

me: Dispel stoneskin (had started before he was unbound, I would've done slp1 here otherwise)
me: Sleep 1, maat is asleep
me: Bind, maat is bound
me: Stoneskin
me: Gravity-resisted! (think I would've learned by now?)
maat is no longer bound
me: Bind, maat is bound

Maat wakes and starts casting stoneskin

me: Sleep2, maat is asleep
me: Dispel stoneskin

Now, at this point I had a little over 100 mp. His hp was at about 70%. I wasn't sure if I would have enough mp to chainspel nuke him after a convert, but I didn't think I had enough to get another nuke/sleep in before convert. I decided to go for it. In retrospect, I probably would've used an ether and then done another nuke/sleep, but who knows, maybe all hell would've broken loose if I had.

me: Convert/cure4 macro
maat is no longer bound
me: Cure 3
me: Bind, Maat is bound
me: Cure 4 (full now, with the extra 100 or so I had from the mp after switch)
refresh effect wears
me: yagudo drink
me: super ether (about full mp here)
maat is no longer bound

ok showtime

me: Chainspell
me: Bind, maat is bound
me: Aero3, 356 dmg

Maat: Diaga2, blink and stoneskin off

me: Aero3, 356 dmg

Maat: Chainspell
Maat: Blizzard2, crap dmg

me: Aero3, 356 dmg

Maat: Poison2

now, at this point I'm getting a little scared. I'm looking at maat's hp and my mp and it doesn't look like I'm going to make it

me: Aero3, 356 dmg
maat is no longer bound

Maat: Stone3, 252 dmg
me: Aero3, 356 dmg

I win!

I ended the fight with 603 hp and 8 mp, and broke the record.

I beat him a while ago, 1/3 all within 2 days of fighting. On my win, I didn't have a single spell resisted. I went with Sleep II -> Hi-Ether -> Hi-Ether -> Aero III -> Sleep II repeat (sometimes just one Hi-Ether). I only used 2 Aero III's with my Chainspell at the end, and it took 7 Aero III's total. I didn't have to Convert, and ended the fight without taking any damage to my HP (Stoneskin took it all) and had only 6 MP left. Maat died about an inch away from being able to melee me, which probably would have meant an Asuran Fists, which probably would have meant death. I got very lucky.

Despite the fact that Gravity kept getting resisted, you were smart to cast it. I know it bought me some time when I Chainspelled. I just laughed while he ran in slow motion and I just blew his hair piece off.

Here's how mine went:

Odude 1 - Maat 1

8 Aero III's, only one resisted. Went in on Darksday since I couldn't sleep him in my 1st attempt.

Time: 4:48
Damage Taken - Maat: 114+(344*7) = 2522dmg
Damage Taken - Odude: 176 Blizzard II + 50 Blizzard II = 226dmg

I used 5 Hi-Potions and 1 X-Potion. I accidentally used a Vile Elixir +1. /angry I was trying to use my Regen Drink, inventory shifted since I had just used a Yag Drink, so I wasted 300k on that item. I didn't use my Vile Elixir, or my Pro-Ether.I walked in to the edge of the circle so I could see what he casted. He went with Protect, Shell, and Haste. I ran up, buffed. (Stoneskin, Phalanx, Blink, Pro/Shell IV) then SLeep II. Dispel, used some of the items mentioned above, Dispel, and Slow. (Yeah, I was excited. Dunno what made me think that would work. lol) Then Chainspelled for fun. Chainspell wore off just as I landed Sleep II. Converted, used up the Potions, which I didn't really need. Two more spells dropped him, so I had PLENTY of MP to Cure IV myself back to 800HP+ or so.

Now I just need a third test so I can break the test! But congrats on dropping Maat!

Does Maat resist gravity on just a normal cast or even if you equipment swapped in stuff, will he resist it anyway? (I'm thinking Wind Staff and boosts into other stats)

All my spells have equipment changes macroed in so each time I was casting with wind staff and two +3 int rings. I also was wearing marine M Gloves (+4 int) and had on custom boots which give +3 int I think and my enfeebling torque.

My guess is he has at least some natural resistance to gravity or I was just really really unlucky with it.

4 min, something, I think. I don't know. If I'm really bored sometime I'll get another testimony to exactly what it is if I still have the record, and if I can beat it (Hey, should take less time if I don't cast gravity).

I had no problem with sleep too. But a few Rdm friends who tried it got their sleep resisted 5/6 with HQ dark staff and enfeebling torque. It's possibly my INT I have from being a Taru that helps.

I couldn't land gravity at all w/ Wind Staff, enfeebling torque, AF Body, and a chunk of +int eq (w/ taru int)

I never got 2 sleeps resisted in a row, so I didn't fall victim to bad luck.

Unfortunately, I forgot to bust out Chainspell until the end... I got 1 Bind and 1 Aero III off during my chainspell, then maat gave up :)

I only tried 3 times, though the first 2 I consider trial/boredom runs because I went in at lvl 66 when I couldn't think of anything else to do than to die to Maat and farm another test from Ruby.

A couple ppl I know had issues with Maat as Rdm. One guy said he spent several million trying (vile elixirs or what not each time + lots of failures), and another guy lvled thf to beat Maat, though he's Thf main now kinda... Xps as Rdm and merits Thf stuff only

Congrats! ^.^ I'm both anticipating and dreading my chance to pummel that old man ... but you can see I've still got a lot of time until I actually do. Enjoy finishing off that grind to 75!
