So I downloaded this so I could load area .dats, but when I tried to use it, I got this message:

Anyone with experience with EWH know what this means? I can't find anything via search engine. All my FFXI files are installed in the default locations.

The only person who has ever got this to work as far as we know was StarvingArtist :(
Its rummored it requires JP Install or soemthing liek that who knows.

If thought about trying to translate it....But...I've got enough things workign on at the moment lol.

Yeah, I get that error too or something similar. I've had the program for ages and tried placing it just about everywhere and with various settings on/off, but it just won't work.

Well, try going into regional settings, and set non-unicode programs to japanese. A lot of japanese programs require this setting in order to work properly from my experiences.

I tried that as well but still could never get it to work. Instead it would just give me the error dialogue box in japanese instead of the garbled stuff ^^;

You need to edit the registry. In the PlayOnline -> InstallFolder you need to add the variable for FFXI location.

A screenshot of the registry entry can be found here (http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/1575/registryuz7.jpg).

Actualy there is a way to work it and Ive gotten it to work in the past and you dont need the JP version. Just JP language options on and download the program with the files again soo the list files read in actual JP. Then it will load for ya.

Well, you need JP registry is what it is, but no you don't need the JP version of FFXI.
