looking ahead

i see myself returning to the ffxi scene, after leaving it for a year. I am deciding to return b/c after playing tons of mmorpg's. none of them compare to ffxi. however every one is so far ahead of me, i was wondering if u think there will be a new server coming out in a few months? b/c i wont be coming back till about sept.-nov.

Don't think so - they kicked all the x-box 360 players onto old servers.

There doesn't seem to be much need for any new servers. The population is pretty well spread out over the ones we have, but then again you never know.

I totally relate, by the way. I left FFXI for a year or so to play other MMOs (WoW, EQ2, EQ, CoH, DAoC) and not a single one felt as right to me as FFXI does. It's probably because this was my first MMO, but I'm not upset about it. I really do enjoy this game.

It's doubtful, but even if they did open up a new server, they would almost certainly do it the same way they have in the past: let players migrate their existing characters to the new server. So you'd still be rather "behind" most of the population. The game's not a race, though.
