Hi does anyone have any ideas of what i can skill up on my cooking is 94 atm and since the taco nerf i have no clue ....
Dragon meat is 150k per bit (too expensive) and Mugwart is just as bad at 300k a stack.
So i was wondering if anyone had skilled up on the new recipes ?.
Or had any suggestions thanx

The only thing I can think of would be Cursed Soup. It caps at 100, so it will take you all the way.

Main Skill: Cooking (http://ffxi.somepage.com/recipedb/cooking-synth-1.php) (100 - Veteran)

Crystal: Water
Ingredients: Kitron (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/4042), Persikos (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/4056), Royal Jelly (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/4776), Distilled Water (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/4023), Honey (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/4037)
Result: Cursed Soup (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/3711)
HQ Results the Same

Problem:

Royal Jelly is ex. You want it, you farm it.

It drops off of the bees in crawler's nest, so that's one way of getting it. The other is to do that crazy preserved/dated rolanberry quest. The end NM always drops it.

recipe list 90-100
http://www.ffrecipe.com/search.php?t=&s=8&k=9
sweat rice cake and curse soup are not cheap to make like they used to be :(

For rice cake, 12 Fresh mugwort was less than 5k long ago. Now it's 300k+

For curse soup, stack of Kitron or Persikos I'm not sure is already 250k >< It used to be less than 20k before.

Now that Taco's down to 81 cap skilling in the 90 looks very painful.

Tavnazian Tacos were changed back to level 97 cap in the pre-ToAU update. Take those to 97. Then I guess Sweet Rice Cake to 99, Cursed Soup or Red Curry to 100.

"The recipe change for "Tavnazian Tacos" that was postponed in the February 21st version update has been cancelled after a thorough consideration of possible effects on the in-game economy."

From here (http://www.playonline.com/pcd/update/ff11us/2006041883vPh1/detail.html). Look at the very bottom of the page.

I'm pretty sure. I'd test it, but I'm on a forced break still. Check to see if it's listed as Artisan or Veteran in the NPC recipe lists perhaps?

[I] You can hit up dragon meat to make red curry but with the prices of it, I doubt you will do much of it. Cursed beverage is much easier, but you gotta farm the royal jelly though

Not to steer this off topic, but anyone have any advice on what I should do to take my cooking up from 89 to the mid-90's (like 94 for instance... =P)?

~92 I like to make flint cavier. Anyway check the recipe lists and see what you like to make. There's not that many choice from 93-100.

The jelly also drops off of the bees in the new areas. I killed about a half a dozen the other night and got one jelly. Not sure if I was just lucky or if the drop rate is a bit higher out there.

I just want to point out that if the Persikos are too expensive for you, you can grow them yourself. The same goes for the Kitrons, and honey is never expensive due to availability.

It'll take forever, but this is what I plan on doing:

Farm Rolanberry for bees and goobbues. Take the honey from the bees, either synth to beehive chips to honey or sell them to buy more, plant the cuttings for saplings, and while the saplings are growing into Persikos, I'll farm a mass amount of jelly.

Is it efficient?

No.

But it's cheap.

I'm currently 97.5. I took Tonosama Rice Balls to 94, Rice Dumplings to 95, Brain Stew to 96 and am now making Sweet Rice Cakes. Yes, it is expensive, but what craft at 94 isn't? When I finish rice cakes, I'll be living in Crawlers Nest for jelly! Hahaha. Good luck!

Oh, my bad (re the Tacos) >.<

As for getting to 94, I did Rolanberry Pie to 90, Dorado Sushi to 93 while it was profitable, then a mix of Hedgehog Pie and Brain Stew to 94.6. Then I got a Royal Jelly while leveling my NPC so I gave a Cursed Soup a shot, got a point. Sucks that it can't be signed.

You may be able to work out a deal with a shell that gets a lot of dragon meat. Maybe buy it at a discount in bulk or use it to craft them something they can use.

The thing is, Fafnir never drops meat and Nidhogg rarely drops it. The only idea I've gotten was an EXP party deep in Gustav Tunnel where we fight wyverns where Ungur would pop. The thing is, I don't know many people that would go to such a troublesome place that's surrounded by undead mobs that'll aggro as soon as someone's health goes into the yellow.
