Since we don't have a thread like this here, I figured it would be ok. I'm hoping that we get a few folks over the next couple of weeks and maybe get some traffic up in here, but since the Alla Bahamut forums were already pretty dead (most folks use BlueGartr's forums it seems), I dunno!

Anyway, just in case, I'll introduce myself:

Name: Aelathir

Race/Nation: Elvaan/San d'Oria (holla? but not like the crag of Holla - or you know, maybe exactly like it if that's what works for you)

About Me: I feel like I'm repeating myself a lot (here, LJ, other forums, etc.), but that's the way it goes, I guess. Anyway, I've been playing FFXI for some time, despite what my low job levels might say. I started out on the Seraph server back in early 2004, right before the NA PS2 launch. I made a lot of friends, had a great time, and generally just really immersed myself in the game. But near the end of that year I started to get antsy, and after some RL friends quit, I too jumped ship for a while.

I played WoW and EQ2 for a bit (nearly a year), before I started missing Vana'diel. I came back to Seraph and played for a few months, but because all of my friends who stuck around were all level Uber+, they didn't really have much time to hang out with little old me. I spent a couple of months trying desperatly to catch up to them, but I burnt myself out in the process and November of 2005 found me cancelling my account once again (and in the process misplacing my reg codes and disks :worry:)

Anyway, a few months go by, and I start to miss FFXI again. I realize that I'll be much better of if I just start fresh without worrying so much about catching up to everyone else. So I picked up a copy of the Vana'diel collection, and let the game place me where it pleased. I ended up here on Bahamut, and so far I really like it! Anyway, I'm taking things slow, because I don't really know anybody, and I've been fishing up a storm to get the gil I need to level. I'm really glad to be back in the game, and I'm looking forward to meeting my fellow Bahamut players!

Sorry for rambling on. If you care to, post your info here as well. Please don't feel that you have to go on as much as I did. I'm just chatty! :P

I read a few posts and I don't think I quite absorbed them all. I was thinking about what my char model would look like in an RDM pimp hat. Got it to 37 last night...almost 38. It's been so long since I was that low on a job I forgot how good it felt to get a level in a couple hours instead of a couple days.

In other news, I have been leveling my BLM today, and I think I have had every example of a bad party that you can get in the dunes. It's been pretty awesome from an irony point of view.

Except that I expect this in the dunes, so maybe not so much with the irony.

I just finished doing my RNG in the dunes as well. I can sit in qufim and peg some worms with arrows for awhile. But after I get RNG to 37, than its NIN time. :( Back to dunes for a lvl or two.

Well, NIN/RDM can be pretty nice solo, and post 40 pretty awesome DD in parties. But yeah, we wanted him to tank, so he was pretty useless.

Agreed. Unfortunately we're talking about level 14. In the dunes. As a tank. (I didn't invite him - and boy was the the party leader embarassed when he realized what the guy's sub was)

NIN/Mage is something that I would really like to give a try one of these days. I didn't do it on my old characters, and I don't know when I'll get the chance to do it on this one, but I hope that eventually I'll be able to give it a go. NIN is just always somewhat of a trial for me, because while I love tanking (so much), I hate, hate, hate just throwing gil away. But I need to let go of that and embrace the fun of NIN (and RNG, for that matter). I think it could be really interesting eventually.^^

About Me: Okay, well. I originally started out on Shiva in August with a friend and wasn't exactly having much time to get into high-levels. Got to around 20 though. Then after a few months of suddenly finding nothing to do on Shiva, I found that my friend had planned to go back to Bahamut (which he was some time before I joined). Now, I've got a Gold World Pass onto Bahamut and I've got some serious levelling to do.

In previous months, I had 2-3 characters with their own jobs, but I pretty much had every job, but evened out onto the 3. This time around, with help from my friend, I now have a planned main job and subjobs/other jobs to go with it. In total, about 5 jobs each. One melee, one mage.

I spent like 40 minutes last night trying to figure out where to get more melon pies and strips of jerky. :)

Jerky you can buy from the NPC in Windurst Waters (the Inn). Pies are unfortunately AH only, although you might find some at the cooking guild. Apple pie is probably fine. I just gave you melon because that's what I had on me.

Those are the gobbie bag quests. They require Jeuno fame, which is an average of your fame throughout the three main nations. Or something like that.

I've played the Baulder's Gate: Dark Alliance series and also played some FFX, so console RPGs aren't too new to me. Right now I'm playing on XBox 360 (brand new system bought primarily to play FFXI with) and currently have no keyboard... so yeah, my character is mostly mute. :D I'm 24 years old, own two cats and live with my husband in the Midwest, USA.

Hi, this is Asiren from the Bahamut server. {/wave } My highest job is a level 71 white mage (which is slowly de-leveling thanks to dynamis runs), though I don't really consider it my main job since I do sometimes get bored of exping on white mage. ^^; I haven't really decided what job I like the best, and it kinda shows... >.>;; Most of my jobs are at level 10 or higher. The only jobs that are at level 1 are bard, dragoon, and corsair.

I have played video games in general before, but they were mostly side-scrollers like Mario Brothers. I really did not play a single RPG until I went to college. o_o; That's when I saw my roommate play FFVIII, and started playing Chrono Trigger via emulator. Eventually I started playing Ragnarok Online during it's beta period. I still like Ragnarok Online, but for various reasons, I don't play it anymore... I can only dedicate so much time to games, y'know. ;P

I had been introduced to FFXI while I was playing Ragnarok Online, but at the time, I wasn't really interested in it since it wasn't sprite-based. That's right, I prefer sprites over the 3D/CG look. ;P Still do. When I look at the models used for WoW, I wince a little inside. ^^; Not to mention that some of the colors are so bright, I wonder if some of the WoW players are color-blind. o_O;

I was re-introduced to FFXI about a year (more or less) later by my boyfriend, who let me play his dragoon since that job was at level 1, and he wasn't interested in leveling it. He taught a lot of the basic game stuff while I leveled his dragoon to level 10. I had a lot of fun leveling his character, so I got my own copy of the game and created my new character.

At the time I thought my main job would be thief, and I liked the idea of having a tail, so I chose a mithra as my main character; mostly because I like the idea of having better than average accuracy plus a little more evasion than other races. While I wish I chose a less common face, I've never regretted being a mithra; I remember telling my boyfriend over and over, look at the tail! See, it moves while I walk! It moves while I stand! XD;; I still love the tail. <3

Anyway, since I had originally thought thief would be my main job (despite the difficulty of getting parties), I decided to level my warrior first. I don't quite remember how high I got my war before switching to white mage (maybe around level 24), but I do know I got my subjob items as a war, and I probably did level a bit in Qufim. My boyfriend used his Tarutaru mule to level with me; he went as a white mage. Power levelers were still very rare in the dunes and Qufim, so parties had to learn how to rely on themselves to survive.

I don't think I died so much back then; I seem to remember the moogle telling me in the last year (or the year before that) that I only died like 16 times. o_O; I've become far more death-prone thanks to dynamis. ;P

... Anyway, that's roughly my background with video games. ;P I'll stop now because I'm really rambling, ehehehe... >.>;;;

I am an aspiring Paladin from Bastok. I may not be extremely strong yet, but I am on my way. I have been playing FFXI since Feb. 14th 2006, and I love having fun in the game, in many different ways. I believe there is more to enjoying Vana'diel than just lvling all the time. LVL58 PLD is my highest, but I also have a 30WAR and a few low level jobs like whm12 and blm18 lol. I've tried other jobs but I love being PLD too much. It's the right job for me ^_^ I like to help out newbies alot, and practically anyone else that I have the ability to. I'm really friendly, and love meeting new friends in Vana'diel. I really wish I had more though, since alot of my friends have sort of dissapeared lol.

Im on the shiva server but once i get my time done ill hop over back to bahamut, hows bahamut? is there a equal number of players on all lvls? I have been surfing servers and some servers are weak on the low lvl but high on high lvl and some not too good on hhigh but very good on low lvl.

I think it depends on which time zone you are in really. I find it more diffucult as I'm in the UK, so I dont think I can give an accurate answer for you.
All I know is we do have a lot of end game players, and finding a pt isnt that hard as the mire is always swamped.
We also have a high Japanese player base.

Description: I've probably posted here once before at some point when I was first on Bahamut.. But eh, I've been through other servers and experienced other things since then. I'd restarted that character on Fairy, getting Warrior to around the 30's, I was there for at least 6-8 months until the world transfer came in and I escaped to Diabolos. I'd ended up finding LimitBreakRadio's site, joined up and all and met some awesome people around Diabolos. After about 3 months there, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and join the main LBR base on Odin. I'd said that'd be my final stop.. But it seemed it wasn't. Started to get too quiet last month so, an old friend got me back over to Bahamut. Good ol' home. I'm so glad I did though too.
