View Full Version : Will my computer run smooth with FFXI?

I've just ordered a new computer.
The specs are :
Motherboard :Asus P4B 533 Gold DDR
CPU :P4 2,4 ghz
RAM :512 DDR 333mhz
Graphic card : 128MB Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 PRO
HDD : 120 GB WD 7200rpm

Will it run smooth? I've have'nt tried the benchmark since the computer hasn't arrived yet.
Im' just curious :rolleyes:

your computer will run FFXI like a hot knife through butter ;) also my new computer is also arriving in abouts 1-2 weeks time. Pretty much the same as yours, but AMD CPU, OCZ mem (1 gig) also a Radeon 9800 PRO 256 meg card :thumbsup: :handsdown

cost me a bundle too:sweat: :sweat:

basic details of my comp..
i dont know in depth.

windows 2000 proffesional.
dell dimension 8100.
ntl broadband 600k cable modem.
27 odd GB memory.
(i dont know my comp speed)

will that be ok folks? my japanese import is currently ordered of e-bay.

Go down to the bottom of this page and click on the blue button. (you can see the words "I Agree" in the background of the button) The Benchmark will start downloading.

After you install the FFXI benchmark, tell us what your score is and we'll tell you if and how well you can run it. It's hard to give you a straight answer because a Dell Dimension series 8100 can have a varity of configurations, just like any other series of brand name PC.

:( i got up to about score:1300 and then the program crashed and ended itself :rolleyes: then it come up with a windows box staing Err Code and aload of jibberish writing.. (i dont have a japanese language pack) sooo.. i guess this is a problem.. anything i could do about this?

scrap that last post...
i run the benchmark twice and my first score was 1185.
my second was only a dwindling 920 :confused:

with a broadband 600k cable modem i cant see the problem..
what could it be.. my graphic card or something?

Your modem in irrelevent, its your processer, ram and graphics card.

i ran the benchmark but everytime i run it it says error=2000 what does this mean i have direct x 8

It means you probobly need a newer video card, I'm guessing you have a vodoo card.
