Just get the mob's HP down to like 10%ish and turn away and let it hit u to get TP. Sooner or later he'll do a TP move (hopefully the one u can learn) then kill it after.

someone just posted elsewhere (http://www.theorderls.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9013) that they learned Pollen when the bee never used anything but Final Sting... go figure

Lol, that's probably programming error on SE's part. They probably goofed and programmed it to give you the ability as long as the mob uses an ability doesn't matter which...

I was personally hoping that Beastmaster would have a hand in making it easier for Blue Mages learn their magic like they were able to in other Final Fantasy games. Especially since the update information didn't specifically say that you had to be the target of the special attack. But apparently the other requirements for learning Blue Magic rules that out, or there is some way that is very roundabout and has not been discovered yet.

The caveats for learning Blue Magic are as follows:

- You can only learn the special abilities of monsters when blue mage is set as your main job.
- You have a chance to acquire blue magic when defeating a monster that has used a learnable special ability.
- It is not possible to learn blue magic that is too far above your level.
- You will not acquire blue magic if you are KO'd when a monster is defeated, or the defeated monster does not yield experience points.

Although Beastmaster has the Sic ability that tells their pet to use special attacks, then it would be a pet and you won't be able to attack it. And if I remember correctly, attacking a just released or uncharmed pet will result in no experience points gain once it is defeated so that doesn't look like it would work either. So it doesn't look like the traditional relationships between these 2 jobs has been kept unfortunately.

I also have a pessimistic feeling that there might be a few forum posts in the future where Blue Mages post that they tried to learn Blue Magic on a mob that was much too hard for them and then Called for Help before they realized that Calling for Help makes it so you cannot learn that spell. :O

1 on 1 Diorama with a blu and a bst with a bunch of jugs, maybe?
Oh, but they have to give experience ... Do you get experience for killing a pet in Ballista?

Does anybody know if it's 100%? If a Rarab uses their little Kick do you automagically learn it once you kill it? Or is like Skill Ups? You may have to see 3 or 4 of those before you can learn it?

It's random. Some have said they got skills first time they saw them, whereas Impaction says he was killing crabs for 6 hours without getting Metallic Body.

Celebration! I finally got it.

Yea, it seems pretty random. As people have said offensive abilities are *easier to learn than defensive. Just gotta throw yourself into the fray over and over and hope for the best. Sometimes I find it's best to hold the same monster for a while, eventually they'll use the one you want, and it's easier than wiping out an entire area then waiting for repops.

guys make sure to cap your Blue Magic skill, makes it a lot easier to learn things. I fought a dhamel at lvl9 and got healing breeze first try (of course I couldnt use til i met the lvl reqs)...but ya having capped magic helps a lot. Good luck ^^

Whats a Bluemage's job trait, like special effects?

Blue Mage earns different killer effects depending on what abilities they have set. Other than that they don't have any traits, and Azure Lore is the only ability.

Chain Affinity and Chain Burst are at level 40...which allow you to Skillchain physical moves and magic burst magic moves.

Apparently blu can get new job traits other than killer effects by equipping certain combinations of blue magic.
