Getting a little ahead of yourself, aren't you? ^^; If Blue Mages are anything like Red Mages, then it might be very hard. We'll just have to wait until someone levels BLU to 70 I suppose.

im guessing a litte easier then other mages since they have such high sword skill and those def skills from mob.

lol you just better hope 1 of those crazy players who never logs does not decided to pick it up lol
Considering that maat would have more then HP then that.
you've got no chance buddy.
If Maat copied your skill list, then having no skill = pwn?
Good old fashion beat down with uber EQ and items...
BLU maat would make life so miseriable for tarus, something like berserk+monster skill with stun+ asuran = doom lvl taru

Battle begins...nuts to buffing, we're going all out.
Rush in behind Maat, Sand Trap, begin cast Chaos Blade, finish casting Chaos Blade (Maat receives Curse and activates 2hr), Dream Flower, heal with Healing Breeze, Pollen, Battery Charge for some MP. Use Sharp Strike, Warcry, Berserk, then follow with Death Scissors.
We won't know how tough Maat is till we see the extent of BLU magic

rdm has pretty decent sword skill for a mage. rdm maat is probably the most difficult of all maat fights.

You are limited to how many BLU spells you can pack at any given time due to set points.
The question with Maat is.... does he come packed with a random subset of skills, a mirror'd skillset to those that enter, a full set of ALL skills, or a predetermined set he uses for every BLU fight? Or even worse, a random mix of all the previous suggested methods... the best way to keep you guessing.

Buff up. Run in with Razor Fang > Icarus Wing > Fast Blade > Distortion > Dimensional Death > Darkness > MB Eyes On Me. Pollen, then Final Sting ftw. ^^

why not vorpal blade? BLU do have like 269 sword skill at 75 from what iv heard so id think theyd get vorpal blade

Oh yeah, Vorpal does close Distortion. (rdm, no war or drk sub. Not used to thinking of it ^^; )

Revival of an old thread, but I was curious:
How much MP would BLU have at 65-70? Similar to a PLD? DRK? 32-35WHM/BLM/RDM/SMN? Or more? I believe the total MP a BLU would have will be the deciding factor at this point. Otherwise, it looks to me BLU would have to rely on quick meleeing while trying to keep defenses up. And surely Maat will have blue magic to cast. But I bet it'll be same for every single Maat fight. The people at SE/POL will probably set his spells to some set for the computer AI to play with. Because if you think about it, Maat may know how to use blue magic better than the player. The job class is relatively new and figuring out how to maximize its output looks like alot of work.

As I recall, they have the same-ish mp pool as RDM.

BLU proposed Maat guide:
Equipment: Um...dunno...I'd say whatever your normally wear along with Blinkband and Stoneskin thing.
Food: Probably HP/MP stuff
Consumables: Vile Elixer/+1, Vampiric Juice or Au Lieut and Yag drink, Icarus Wing maybe
Spell Setup:
Frightful Roar - 2 BMP
Self Destruct - 3 BMP
Cold Wave - 1 BMP
Voracious Trunk - 4 BMP
Refueling - 3 BMP
Cocoon - 1 BMP
Magic Fruit - 3 BMP
Warm-Up - 4 BMP
Enervation - 5 BMP
Hysteric Barrage - 5 BMP
Head Butt - 3 BMP
Chaotic Eye - 2 BMP
MP Drainkiss - 4 BMP
The Strategy:
I'm assuming Maat is going to have the entire repetuar of BLU magic. I'd say sleep to 100 TP, then run in after buffing with Refueling, Cocoon, and Warm-Up. Begin the fight by long pulling Maat with Chaotic Eye.
After effect:
Maat is silenced: If he's silenced, start casting Enervation. Follow up with Head Butt and Hysteric Barrage. Use Vorpal Blade when you can. If he becomes unsilenced, immedately Head Butt and try to reapply Chaotic Eye. If that fails, you've still probably stopped a spell (if he casted it) or stunned him after taking the physical ability he used. Use Magic Fruit as needed and keep using Head Butt as needed. MP Drainkiss when you can.
Maat is not silenced. Prepare to either see "You are out of range" or to eat the spell he casts. Begin Head Butting when you can, but try to keep it ready in case Maat tries the deadly Radiant Breath. Use Voracious if Maat buffs himself and proceed as you normally would, using your damage spells when available and Head Butting as needed.
Please note: This entire strategy is conjecture. My Blue Mage is only 58 so I cannot assume the damage/accuracy of some spells. Likewise, Blue Mage Maat is unknown on what spells he has, his accuracy, and what negative effects he is immune to. Still one thing can be easily assumed: Blue Mage Maat will make Red Mage Maat look like a walk in the park.

If I recall correctly, when they made the announcement of the details of the ToAU update, they mentioned that the 3 new jobs would *not* have the same G5 as the previous jobs, and that, like the AF armor, they'd have a differenty quest released in a later update (hopefully this coming July), and that it would only be able to take BLU. COR, or PUP to 75 if you had previously had the level 70 capped removed with one of the other jobs. So probably no Maat fight, but something of similar difficulty.

I pretty much agree that this questions will be answered in the upcomming july patch! I sense that that time frame diagram SE showed will be entirely pushed back, and we will see things muhc more ahead than that we expected.
