It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some players can be.
Today I wasted my time in Beadeaux on a 'skill up' party that ended in a stupid free-for-all. A lv 70 RDM allowed our entire party to die pretty much. He decided that he should pull for us, range 50-61....Dunno...he and his friend made some decision that he knows which Quadav would agro us (....) Come to find that this kid can't pull worth crap. He trails four quadav with him back to camp, and starts using magic while standing right next to a water elemental. After realizing his genius actions, as we're in the middle of the fight, helping him out, he decides that it's time for him to bail, and thus, Warps himself out of the area back to the safe confines of Jeuno while all his teammates wind up dead.
 Good job, buddy. And bob, tell him what he's won???

What he heck is wrong with these high levels on this server? I feel the more that I levelup, the more adversity and stupidity that I have to deal with on this server. I completely thought that I was going to have the opposite happen...you know..get away from all the n00bisms of Valkurm Dunes when I hit at least 50 or so...But it seems that they're still in existance on this server due to compromised accounts ( Which is the only stupid way I can explain a person having 32 PLD/WAR and not knowing how the heck a PLD is supposed to hold hate in a party), and other means of activity that prevents players from learning what the heck they're supposed to learn. You sit back and look at these players, and merely MARVEL at how they ever became such high ranked players.
It is partially my fault for accepting the invite anyhow. But it is terribly wrong to wish that everyone would just take time to learn their jobs?!
:vent:
But I guess I did get a laugh out of something today. n00bs never change.
ok, I just had to post on this b/c the same stuff happened to me earlier today.
i'm soooo stressed out from my pt. main reason; my whm wanted to mellee.
His name is Edener. Rank 10. Japanese. He was our lvl 12 whm in a dune party.
I'm luckily enough to get a 'back-up' whm since Edener was doing everything possible to stress me out.
He pulled when we had a puller.
He didn't cure even though he had more MP then the other white mage.
He was attacking with his club the entire time.
He kept asking me "why" when I asked him not to melle and to cure.
It wasn't the language barrier in anyway. I speak Japanese and I was literally begging him not to get close to the mob and help cure.
There were times when I just wanted to lethim die and not 'voke the mob he just pulled without asking.
C'mon now, RANK 10?! and you're behaving like that? No way.
First time, I ever got upset at a JPN party member.
That ontop of everthing I had a first timer who kept asking questions on stuff he could have learned in the manual, my RL friend was falling asleep so I had to /tell in middle of battle to replacements.

Yeah, yesterday I started up a Hakutaku party.
It was the worst thing ever.
It was full of lv70+, and peoplre kept saying they knew the way, but they didn't, so we wandered in Den of Rancor for at least two hours. No one could keep sneak or invis up, so we aggro'd at least 20,000 mobs and fought for about 11 years. Then as we got close, one of the parties from the alliance of three suddenly disbanded and their WHM started casting Teleport-Vahzl without ever saying anything....

Hate to be the one to break it to you....but this is life. Not sure how to put it, but there are stupid people EVERY WHERE. Just because someone got there high level friend to help them out/have no life, does not mean they are experienced. The only advise i can give you is to ask questions before you join a party, check there gear, and rank, it may appear to take longer, but in the long run it be faster.

Yes, even unintellegent people somehow make it to high levels... that... and the beauty that is.. people selling/purchasing accounts >.>
And a Hakutaku run shouldn't be initiated with a bunch of random people, seeing as when the item drops, its lottable, and someone might be a chump and take it.

I won't get dragged into a high level vs mid level fight.
You will always find n00bs to level with until you get to 75 and only exp with the people in your HNM shell, take my word for that, any time I try and level with anything other than people in my own HNM shell or a select handfull of others - it ends in tears.
One big problem is everyone thinks they know better - don't be standing there dishing out orders because you think you know best, even if it is right, people won't take being told what to do. Instead try and gently suggest alternative ways of acting - you will get much better responses.

It's an easy game. Just time consuming.
Double Post Edited:
Being high level is not a big deal in my opinion. Just a lot of time spend on leveling. Even yourself could have all jobs level 75 if you're bothered to spend tme on it. There are some other things to do ofcourse, like getting decent armor and stuff.. but it all should work out well anyway, with the required amount of time.

I've met a couple of people, level 60, in parties who don't know how to layout the moghouse, or what Conquest is, and a whole host of other things.
This boggles my mind. I expect that someone who is level 60 has spent longer in game than me, I just expect it. How could you have a marginal amount of intelligence and not notice these things?
I mean, I only party like a few times a month, if that, and I don't n00b it up except for maybe the first fight or two. Of course my job isn't that hard.
I'm level 6 on my Thief (and 6 on Warrior but I stopped training that), and I've only seen one "n00b". Most of the people I meet were level 75 and decided to train a different job.
The n00b I met was shouting "I need gil!", so I thought I'd be nice and give them some.
me: /tell *n00b's name* You need gil? How much?
me: /tell *n00b's name* Hello?
me: /tell *n00b's name* Type /tell Jekk [msg here]
n00b: /tell Jekk Hey
me: /tell *n00b's name* How much gil?
n00b: /tell Jekk how much you got?
me: /tell *n00b's name* ...
n00b: /tell Jekk or how much your (yes "your" not "YOU'RE", the bad spelling made it worse) willing to give
me: /tell *n00b's name* Never mind then -__-;
n00b: /tell Jekk watever
me: /tell *n00b's name* Does this look like MSN? It's "what" not "wat.
Yeah, I think I was a bit mean but... oh well. I attempted being nice by trying to give gil^^

"Does this look like MSN"...
Hah!
Unfortunately...
I haven't had the joy of being in a PT, yet.
I'm trying to get all my Spells from before Lv11(which I'm at now).
Someone found Paralyze for me last night. And, at 3.5k less than at the Sandy AH.
Which is...incredible...
All, I need is Bind and Barsleep...
And, I think I'll be ready to PT.

Don't buy spells off the AH if you can avoid it.
Do a search on this website: http://ffxi.somepage.com/ - and find where you can buy it from a vendor. If it's not in the city you are in drop one of your friends a tell and see if they will get it from the shop in that city instead :)

Sorry. After all the levelling and missions and quests and skill ups and the other crud I've done over the last coupla years it sort of boggles my mind that people still generalize so easily. I'm rank 10 all three cities, done with CoP, done as far as I can go with ToAU, done with RotZ, I've got all the avatars (and my summoner is only 9) plus some avatar items. Some of us are out there in the shadows busting our humps to get the general public what they need to get by. Generalizing makes us all look like crap.
Next time someone is being a bonehead, drop party. Why is that such a hard concept to grasp? Instead of everyone dying out, how about you make sure you have someone to escape you? Instead of giving the zinger to end all zingers to someone who's begging for gil on a mule that's probably more rich than you, how about you have your LS send them 8 crystals....per person?
There's no reason to generalize that high levels are n00bish or st00pid or ignorant or don't want to help or blahblahblah. We're all individuals playing a game individually. We just happen to be thrust into the same spheres together sometimes. Don't complain.... get revenge. The sheriff is on permanent vacation and as long as you don't kill anybody the feds won't toss you in jail. The game is about creativity. Why not be creative in how you react to the ignorant as well? Leave the good high levels alone. We cry easily.

We're all individuals playing a game individually.
...And that's why it's called a massive multiplayer.
Right?
I think I deal with noobism just fine. I mean...everyone has them. Myself included.
It's just what you've done or what you haven't done to rectify the problem that really matters.
...And I suppose...me walking away from a party after losing 1.2k exp is going to solve everything too! :P

Personally I've never encountered this. You'd think people would learn by level 70 <.<
I had a SMN who didn't cure me when I was at 28HP and WHM ran out of MP.
After I died, I just simple asked why I didn't get a cure.
She replied. "You didn't ask."
I think that was the most steamed I've gotten in a long time.

It works both ways though. On my old character I was SMN in a PLD and WHM party, both of whom refused to heal the PLD because "I wasn't using enough MP" like it was a bad thing. Yep.

Sadly there will always be idiot people who can't do their job properly, no matter what job they are. When I was in a party in Quicksand Caves, our leader was ableto get us a RDM. Sounds great, having a RDM along for Refresh. Problem is; this RDM was subbing /NIN. :( Let's not aslo for the fact he was meleeing with the NIN and x2 SAM (me being one of them). And best part is, the RDM was rarely Refreshing the WHM and Dispelling the beetles when they're using their blasted eva up ability. The leader and I wanted to kill him.

I lost 1200 exp points yesterday to a party who had 5 DD's (me included for less than 10 minutes) and 1 blm as main healer. Yes, 1 blm as main healer. Also, the party was in Bhafaut (sp?) Thickets. Which means blm is not going to help much considering how Colibris there have Auto Reflect and high magic defense. Second, pt leader was noobish enough to invite another thf (me) when there was already one in pt. If you have 4 DD's, 1 blm, and 1 open slot for one more party member, the last person you want to invite is another DD. Get a rdm, whm, or smn. Not a thf. Having SH, hairpin, or any other unique piece of armor does not instantly take you off the noob list. You know when you stop being a noob when your job becomes much easier for you and you know how to use your abilities/spells to their full advantage. Don't think you are a noob because someone in your pt has a piece of gear that you would want but don't have.
I don't understand why people complain about bad parties if it's obviously a bad one. If I got an invite to the party and saw there was no main healer I'd just leave, if I stayed it would be my own fault for losing exp. However, if it was "I joined a PT, had everything needed, except the Tank didn't use provoke" then that would be understandable.

some people tend to sell their accounts to others infortantly which causes this, personally if you quit your character should die along with you, you put the soul into it and without the soul the body can not live, so therefore it must die as well

Let's see.
60 NIN who didn't tank and keep hate and was killing everyone in the pt.
PLD in Garlaige who didn't even provoke. We all survived, except for the PLD. ;P
50WHM who barely healed us, and got us a PL. At 50. o_O;
Yep. All bad encounters.
