if anyone wants a screenshot program thats compleely free and doesnt mark up the screens(with logos and stuff), and also creates very good quality pics. go to....
www.fraps.com
Other great features it has is a frame rate display, which tells you the framerate the game is currently running at.
Also has record feature, which can record your game to make high quality(and very large file sizes, every minute of video roughly equates to a 200 MB video file) videos.
stolen right from the site:
" Fraps is a free utility for DirectX and OpenGL games. It can best be described as:
benchmarking software - see framerates on screen and log them to file. Calculate the average framerate between any two points.
screen capture software - take screenshots at the press of a button with files automatically named and timestamped.
movie maker software - realtime recording of your gameplay to high quality AVI video files"
there is several other small features... most i dont use, bu nice none the less.
if anyone knows of other great screenshot programs please post them here for others to check out.
ADDED NOTE!!!
screens are taken and saved as .bmp (bitmap)... and are usually quite large depending on resolution and amount of stuff onscreen. some of my FFXI screens were as large as 5 MB.
if you wish to convert them to a smaller file format, such as JPG. get this free program. Batch Thumbs
http://harmware.com/bThumbs.htm
is says on the site its a thumbnail maker... yes it does that... but it also converts lots of picture files to other formats.
