Yea its from the windower posted above. Just remember that maybe the other person in the skillchain doesnt have the windower so remember to say your TP still ;)

I think this isn't the place to talk about it. Windower is considered to be illegal (a lot of ppl have it nonetheless)

People post the windower all over this site. Its not illegal really, its not enhancing your performance in anyway.

I never even knew about windower till some random guy mentioned it xD
Too bad I kinda retired before seeing what it actually does.
And yeah, I'm anxious for my return to FFXI.
while windower is nothing new, I don't think we should be posting links here. You can google for the site easy enough.

agree with Jei. Though talking about the windower is ok, please refrain from posting links to it.

You would think that Square Enix would have done something like that though. It's annoying having to announce your TP every 5 seconds. There would be a lot less chat spam in parties if a function like that was implemented in the game.

It's intentional that they didn't, the purpose of not putting such a function in the game is because SE wants the players to communicate. They make it were you need parties to acomplish many tasks, they don't want you to just go through a party and kind of just run with the group mindlessly. An attempt to counter was to make it were you had to communicate with the group even if it's just a macro created to tell the group your TP, you still spent the effort executing that macro to communcate that information.
It's an intentional design that they don't show you every single stat to the party members, especially one that would almost seem like it would be beneficial to have. This is why also an alliance you never see the MP that an allianced Mage has, part of that is to push communication at an even higher level.
For someone stating the windower is not illegal, in the technical sense to what the EULA states it is illegal. Just the windower is very similar in a sense to how music is often treated. People downloading a track they find from a site without actually owning the CD, that is illegal but you ask the ones that do it they'll just look at you funny. Some may even say "Really? Hmm, well I don't have police knocking at my door so why should I care?"
As a BLM, having the distance gauge can really help ...

It should also be immensely popular with RNGs ... ;O
Disclaimer: I used it only as a novelty and to test it out. I don't use it otherwise and haven't used it since. I can play this game effectively with or without any of these add-ons. Also, don't ask me for a copy or where you can get it from. Use Google if you really want.

My SAM friend (when he played) once complained that if he didnt have to post his TP, he'd only have to push a button twice per fight: once to engage, once to WS.

I agree with macht. besides, even with TP plug in, I still feel a lot more confident to start skillchains when other members respond to my TP macro. It ensures me they are ready and paying attension for it.

Yeah, I like to have the reassurance that they're paying attention. I have the distance plugin since I haven't really had a chance to play RNG since the change last summer (I'm slow I know), so I have it on the odd occasion that I'm going somewhere with ls mates and such. The plan is to play with it a bit and learn the distances myself so I don't need it. Besides having to load it everytime I log in is a pain in the ass.
It does seem SE is slacking off on trying to shut down the windower lately. Seemed like for a while that every update messed up the windower and you had to get the newest version to keep using it. I've been using it for quite a long time, and never had to get an update b/c of an SE patch fix. Only real reason I use it, is so I can still use my comp while I play. I turn down the ingame music and crank mp3s while I play (as well as looking at stuff on here, and a few other sites while I craft etc.)

That screenshot was not windower. It was FFAssist. Seperate program.
i use ffassist all the time for zones I don't have maps.. ^^; it helps me do sky and cop a lot easier.
the spell cool down timer is really neat too.
it works with windower btw.

I heard they that there isn't an English translation for FFassist, is that still true? If not, is it easy to find a version that isn't bugged or virused to hell? I heard that part too.
ffassist can be switched to english, it's just a setting you can easily type in 0 for JP 1 for NA I think...
the japanese owner of ffassist doesn't want anyone but himself to host the file. he also asks us not to post direct link to the file. so, if you follow links from his own post in 2ch, im pretty sure you will get a clean file, no virus.
there's a detailed thread about how to get ffassist and how to figure out the password in azaril's forum. take a look there.

Do you have links to 2ch and azaril's forum? I'm sorry I don't have much experience with ff sites aside from the mainstream ones. :(

Google ffxi windower, go to azaril's site, then go to his forums

The app, so I have heard, is most useful for it's ALT-TABness. The ability to check your email during 4 hours of searching for a party would be a bonus, even though this attribute of the program seems to be the one that is most abused.
alright so i downloaded the windower...me being stupid didnt take in mind that it being called windower ment that it was in window mode.....yea is there a way to get back into fullscreen.....i downloaded the Azaril's Windower 3.31 or w/e and it works...just in window mode....thanks

Just open POL the way that you should instead of using window - or as it says on the site, edit the .ini file so that it runs natively full screen, but allows you to use the plugins.
there are also settings of windower you can adjust. look around the folder, open up ini files in notepad and you'll see.
there's a setting TrueFullscreen = 0 or something like that, set it to 1 and you can play fullscreen with all the windower's plug ins enable.

.... you realize you can run Windower and no one can tell by your SS? I run Windower by default, although you probably can't tell by any of my SS.
Reason why I don't have TP gauge is that I believe that is strictly an option. You can turn it on (It's packaged with Windower) because it's otherwise off by default.
Jei ... I find the comment about "If you don't like Mithras, don't use this program!" by the FFA author to be pretty funny. I'm guessing his character is mithra :p
now that we have the fullscreen settled away (thanks btw) what about onscreen map plugins and abillity time limits and clocks and all that great stuff..? is that another windower or can i use it with archbells?

Some of it, you can get on his forum.
I have the magic/ability time limit thing, and it's a separate program.
They might've added it in the forum as a plugin, too, though, for all I know.

The clock, recast timer, and mini map in that ss are FFAssist. Windower does not have those functions. You can use FFAssist along with windower, which may be the case, but my point is that those other functions are that of FFAssist.
