I often do searches on these forums as information is usually available without having to reask the question. I recently did a simple search on some DPS formulas (I was trying to compare weapons TP gain actually, hehe well not important) and I happily stumble across Apple Pie's 5-1 solo thread. That thread is what brought me to ffxionline.com and has kept me here. I admired grendal so much that I attempted to solo 5-1 myself. Having tried it 6 times before giving up and winning with a trio (another rdm and pld) I hope to give it another try when I switch to windurst (I believe I lost due to not have shell iv which may account for the increased resistence to sleep and paralyze which had been my demise each time). Anyways, I miss the taru very much and I'm not sure if he quit or simply doesn't visit these boards anymore but the man is my hero and his research is priceless, please come back dude we miss you. :rolleyes:

I agree 100%! While I never had the pleasure of knowing Apple Pie, I have read and learned a GREAT deal from his posts. I also hear Renarudo say in posts and now in tells that he is his hero/mentor/God, and would love the chance to learn more from him. If you still read these forums, come back...you're not only missed, but needed.

he has not quit. He just stopped visiting these forums :(
He keeps a regular blog, but it's entirely in JP. I drop by every so often and leave him a message (in EN :)) and he is kind enough to respond.

Yea, Apple Pie is still active in game but he is now more active in PvP stuff, i.e. ballista. Yea, his input is missed and I wish he can come back and write something for us.

I visit his blog regularly, Grendal responded to every comments he received ^^)b

I, too, was brought to these forums by Apple Pie's 5-1 solo thread... in fact, I am working on an updated equipment list for it, what with all the gear that has come out since. I'll be posting it in Apple Pie's thread at the risk of necroposting... and I intend to seek out Apple Pie for critique on it.

Even months after quitting FFXI I still find myself periodically checking up on old posts of his. The info is ageless and invaluable and his presence here was a great service to us :)
