View Full Version : New database... Kida's Fishing Database
Hi all people who fish.
For a long time I have sought a new and updated fishing database. Unfortunatly I never really found one that I liked. What to do? Well I decided to make my own and so I did. At the moment the site has been up and running for about a month and I have gotten a lot of great feedback and updates.
If you would like to see what I have done so far please check it out: Kida's Fishing Database (http://kida.theill.com/)
I hope that you will like it and find it usefull. Ofcourse there is still a lot of work I need to get done but all in all most has been finished and ready to be used.

I've been using this since I started fishing again after I found the link on Titanicus.
I used to use Clanwind's database and Fisherman's Rods but it was a bit discouraging to see that they hadn't been updated. I really didn't want to start loosing rods and lures as soon as I started fishing again, this gave me just what I needed.
Good job.
Awesome job Kida ^^
I used to use Clanwind's until I started snapping rods left and right when I wouldn't have been before the patch a year ago. Apparently that person responsible for that database has either left the game or have just abandoned fishing. None of the resources I found, on forums (Like Marissa's) and in other databases were accurate or were updated.
What's amazing is that as many fishers there are out there, there isn't a good source of information as there are in other crafts. Leads me to believe that the old mantra of a "fishermen never tell their secrets" seems to be what's driving this lack of resource online.
Thanks again Kida ^^
Thanks for the replies. I am very happy that you like the site. It is great to see that people appreciate the work I have done.
As I mentioned above there are still things that need to be done and I am currently working on the map section. Yesterday I wanted to find Crystal Spring in Jugner Forest and I really never would have found it on my own.... it is very hard to spot on the map. I don't think there is anything on the net like this (though I am not sure). Also I want to make a Guild Item table (even though I dont quite know how yet).
I really want to make the ultimate resource for fishers. I want a fisher to be able to find everything they need on my site. I know I still have far to go but none the less it should be possible. That is also why I really appreciate all feedback and suggestions I can get.
So once again thanks for the replies and send me suggestions if you have a good idea... ^^

If you can get in touch with the developers of both sites, you might be able to gleen a few tips on making your own (I believe there is a wiki type of database online from which both sides get their info from)

WOW!
That's all I can really say. WOW.
I'm sure you put a massive amount of time and effort into this site, and I, for one, am extremely appreciative.
I put a few hours into fishing a VERY long time ago, before all the updates. In about 3 hours of fishing, I got to level 1 and decided this was a pointless waste of my time and quit.
Lately, I've been finding less and less things to do in FFXI so I decided to give fishing another try. I like the "newer" system because it's a lot less boring, but I quickly realized that I had NO idea whatsoever where to go or what to use or what to try to catch, etc.
Your site is a GODSEND. Thank you! ::bookmarks site::

Just an updated link for Kida's Fishing Database. His web site has changed to http://www.finalfishing.com/ so that he can run off an actual dedicated server and help speed up the web site.
