Ok, in everyone's oppinion, what is your favorite guild, and what does everything think the most rewarding guild is? Out of blacksmithing and all the other crafts.

do you think cloth has any advantages over the other guilds, or that any guild has any distinct advantages?

Well if your looking to make money while lvling up your craft Cloth was the way to go for me.I made silk cloth to get to 51 skill lvl and actually made money even with the price inflation.Silk thread x 3 stacks =240k makes one stack of cloth which sold for 300k.Of coarse with some breakage early on after a while no breaks at all when i made 7 stacks of cloth.
Leather is also a good craft but i didnt see much in return while lvling up.I make alot of money with leather now(lvl 40).I buy Ram skin for 1k-3k a piece and i buy all i can.I make ram leather which sells for 8k-10k a piece or 85k-100k a stack in Juneo.
I make more of a return on my cloth skill while lvling the craft.I also am lvl 49 in bone and its a pain trying to get the items for that.I only wanted it up to make shade gear.I read a post where a guy was lvling smithing in his 50's and still couldnt really make a decent profit form the craft,so i havent really dived into that.
A side note on cloth is the +1 mage gear sells for alot so thats a good reason.
farming silk is boring as hell but I farm where spinny pops(NM) in a chance to nab him while I farm
hope I helped.

Glad I could help.
I f you take up cloth it would be wise to dabble in leather cause seers and noct gear take like a lvl 20 in leather i believe.

I wouldnt say hard to find but Giant femurs and crab shells dont stack which is a pain when using them.Alot of trips back and forth from the AH for me.Im gonna take bone to 50 then I wont touch it again.Only one more lvl :)

I print out the crafting guides and do items about 10 lvls above my current skill to get skill ups of .2 and .3 often makes it alot quicker.
This is the site I use

You are trying something above 15 lvls of your current skill.I do normally 10-12 lvls above my current skill to get quick lvl ups.Of course I break alot but i got a .4 once.

I suggest fishing. It's about as cheap are your going to get for a craft.
Pay the price for a good rod, and a rig, and you're set. You can fish, sell the stacks at the AH, at no price to you.
However, fishing does take longer to level than other crafts, but the gil you save more than makes up for it.

ok. do you think fishing would be a good money maker to fund other crafts?

Yes, it is. Fishing is a great craft to take up if you're a Cook, or an Alchemist.

Like the above poster said, fishing is great for a cook or alchemist. Fishing can also prove to be profitable by itself.

alright guys thanks. so fishing can support cooking and alchemy. is alchemy by itself profitable? I dont know what kind of things that they make that are profitable.

Well, every craft is "profitable" per say. Your profit will increase with your level in that craft. However, the cost of your materials will rise also.
The main money makers for Alchemy I believe are Potions, and Medicines. You can also make arrowheads, bullets, fishing lures and rods, and status affecting weapons.

well, clothcraft is nice, but as the other if you want to bring it high, you will toss much gils in the air
there are profit crafts at lev 4, 18, 34, 51, 53 because you making materials used in the most crafts. you will end up in doing lots of synth :)
bonecraft is not so hard then others think, my gf has bone 60 now and it was not really cost intensive when you know what you`re doing.
alchemy can be profitable by itself, fishing for sure too
cooking is profitable, but you may ending up selling tons of food
good luck

Ok. what do you mean by you may end up selling alot of food, isn't that what you want to do?

thats the way it is
you have to sell more items then other crafters, but other crafters have to wait longer to sell their stuff
food is everytime needed so you will never loose your customers =)
i started cooking as you can see in my signatur, but atm i`m only playing my taru

ok so its a good thing that you will have to sell stuff all the time. it does make sense, blacksmithing only sells armor and stuff to people occasionally but people can use food at any level, good point. thanks
