Would this be a good processor, to invest in, when playing FFXI ....

I have a Ceeleron 1.7 Ghz, an I lag quite a bit in FFXI ... Would this prevent that from happening???

Well, Intel 4 sounds good (recommended processor). 2 Ghz should be fine as well.

Don't forget, that a nice graphic-card is IMPORTANT, too. As far as I heard, FFXI is very much basing on your GPU.

I got a Radeon 9500, so Graphics isnt an issue ... They game looks awesome !

Only downside is lag .. Will this help against lag or anything?!

celeron is not really for gaming purpose.

for the lag issue, there are many problems cause is. Too many program running background (especially Norton <- i hate this one), too crowd, graphic cards, ram(??)....

i think connection wont be a really big issue, but still is one of them...
