So yeah, despite the recent nerf I'm starting up BST. Primarily because, well, it's literally the only job I can play with the time that I have to work with*. Is it better at the lower, pre-leave levels (like, say, 14) to just kill stuff with a pet, or to ghetto leave each pet for the extra 30% xp boost? Seems like with how long it takes the two mobs to duke it out, I could be killing much faster. Anyone care to share thier Opinions/Thoughts/Random Insight/"n00b" insults/Etc.?

(I work 3-12am CST, play 1-5am cst. to put in perspective how bad this time frame is for parties, I've sat seeking as 19 brd for 2+ hours for the last 3 days, no invites that lasted over 10 minutes once I got there besides a single group that lasted a whole hour just cause there was a PL :/

And, on an ironic note, yesterday I actually got an unsolicted tell for a party at 13, shame I had to log :(

I've only taken my BST to 15 but for the most part you want to avoid pets in the early levels. Takes too long, you could easily slaughter mobs yourself at those levels. I went all the way to 15 without bothering with pets, though at this level I was planning on using them (no time to level BST now though...too busy with PLD.) As for what to do with your pet, you got me there, but I see it as a matter of personal preference (keep EM pet charmed or ghetto leave them, that is.)

my bst is only lvl 16, but here's what i did to get this far. i started charming dc crabs and siccing them on em/tough crabs till the crabs all conned d/c (in la thein plateau). then i went to burimbu penninsula, charmed an em dhamel and destroyed all the ep i could see. it was a little slow, but rather fun. :)

i quit cuz i couldn't decide what to do next, then came this nerf, and now i have no reason to try to figure out. so much for wanting to play solo, i guess it's back to 3+ hours a night building my own pt's...

Using ghetto leave should not be used every fight otherwise you will likely be fcking up your exp per hour. Ghetto leaving is best done when your pet has a slight advantage over your enemy in regards to hp but they both have less than 10% hp. You want your pet to die beause if you send him against another enemy he'll be dead in two hits and you'll be stuck running for another pet and praying you dont mischarm (which happens alot in the early levels). If your pet has say 20-50+% hp just enter the fight and help it finish off your prey. You will make a lot more exp in the time it would take you to ghetto leave every pet.

Eventually you will get a feel for this and start to get a flow going. Good luck and I'll be happy to answer anymore questions you have in the future.
