Hmm, I am not sure what you like to know. You don't need to set up your dial up modem anyway. Maybe you mean step 5 in the Play Online Installation, where you have to choose your connection? http://www.ffxionline.com/playonline_step_install_1_15.html
I guess you have to choose Dial up (although PING marked the ethernet). But I am NOT sure.

Yeah, thats what I ve meant. I would say you choose "Dial up", but I am not sure. Lets wait for other replies or you could send a PM to a moderator like PING.

Dial up is 56k
ADSL is European for DSL and is USB (I have USB modem)
Ethernet is for ethernet modem but also (A)DSL
If it were up to me I would choose ADSL but that's just me.
You can only find out by choosing your path only then will you know if it is wrong.
But to be sure just ask anyone who has a USB modem and plays imported FFXI

Okay, then it's clear. Normal ISDN 64kb would be dial up as well, right?

Its best to choose dial-up, cuz it will work better on that if you got it yourself. It would get laggy if you'd say ADSL, cuz it is gonna send bigger packages, what would make it go slow.

Only if you don't have it yourself. If you have dail-up, choose dial up, if you have dsl, choose adsl, Simple, right?
