Worst RDM on Bahamut.....

Oh yeah, last night I pt’ed with the worst RDM on the planet. First of all, I saw a good 63-64 pt on seek so naturally I attempt to invite the RDM seeking first as we all know that no refresher = no party. This asshat asks me where I intend to camp and I tell him probably bibiki bay. He say, “No thanks, I was hoping to go pt in sky.” I tell him that he should consider putting that in his search comment.

Since he was the only refresher seeking a pt I decide to put on my trusty solo gear and head to pash to farm with seek up. Before I get halfway through rollanberry fields I get an invite from a summoner. Naturally I accept and head my ass on back to jeuno. When I get there, he invites to join pt and we are the only two in the pt. He tells me he has a ninja and a RDM on the way so I don’t sweat it. Pt ended up being NIN/MNK/WAR/THF/SMN/RDM which is pretty much shit. No whm or blm >.<

We start heading out to camp at boyada tree and the entire way there the RDM is bitching about how we aren’t going to sky. I seriously wanted to punch him in the face. Then, he takes over 7 minutes longer to get there than anyone else in the pt and we all left at the same time. He went afk or something. Well, while waiting for him the thf, war and I decide to farm gobbues. He sees my provoke- gobbue gardener macro come up in pt chat and educates us on how it is not good form to farm in an exp pt. I then tell him there is nothing wrong with it while waiting for the slow pokes to get to camp.

Once we get to camp and get ready to roll the summoner pulls with carby since the crawlers are so close to one another and they link. Well, the thief looked like she was about to pull and I couldn’t tell right off if she had or not so I ask in pt chat, “link” and the summoner said no. Well, the dumbshit RDM SLEEPS the other crawler for no apparent reason causing a link. As we fight the first mob the RDM tells us he is going to focus on keeping the link asleep. I figure, ok he’ll do his job and keep the thing asleep at the same time. Boy was I mistaken. He didn’t refresh the SMN or himself, nor did he debuff the mob. He at least converted so he would have some mp.. So, maybe this was a fluke, maybe he was just stressed about the link……. Nope. While we fight the second mob he didn’t refresh either himself or the summoner but at least he dispelled the crawler. He finally refreshed himself when he was down to like 50mp.

We rest up full and carby pulls again. RDM refreshes the SMN but he DOES NOT refresh himself at all this fight. The ninja (FULL AF no SH) bites the dust because he sucks at keeping shadows up and the SMN can’t heal him fast enough, then I voke, hundred fists the crawler with the assumption being that I will die too. OF course I die but everyone else lived.

After the fight I asked the RDM why he didn’t refresh himself and he said, “Because he was almost out of mp.” (referring to the SMN). I told him that was BS because at the beginning of the fight they were both full on MP. He then says, “F#$# this” and warps. We don’t find another refresher and I end the pt down 1k exp cause I had to eat a R1.

This is the same redmage who while pting in gustav tunnel told the pt that if another person asks him for refresh he is warping. I told him he sucks at life and that he should consider uninstalling FFXI……

RDM is one of the most demanding job to do as you need to do a lot of stuffs from refreshing yourself and 2 other mages and maybe even PLD if there is one.
to haste melee and ninja if there is one. to enfeeble monster and cure and even mb if u can.
so usually you cant really find a good rdm that do all this well.

But i am sure that rdm you are saying sux ;p
anyone who dezone off because of something has problem himself.

Yeah, I understand that RDM is a demanding job. However, I have never until last night met a RDM that couldn't at least keep himself refreshed. That PT only had 2 ppl requiring refreshing including himself. If a person is unable to do at least that and throw out a dispell every now and then they should consider a less demanding job IMHO.

I party with people like this many many times.. And it's frusttrating, especially because White MAge's or Red Mage's can get a invite really easily. Sigh ~.~ Usually I rather disband then having someone I don't like in party though.

In order for me to get constant invites I have to work my arse off to keep my gear pimped out and even then I could go hours without any hopes of getting a pt.

I was planning on disbanding if the RDM didn't leave or get das boot. I certainly wasn't going to stick around to die again.

Yea, once they hit 41 they get a crapload of invites I hear. Mind you I don't have the game yet(getting it Christmas time), but I'm just saying from what I read. Altho Red Mages can get exp easy from being refreshers, this one RDM refuses to Refresh efficiently by what your saying, so it makes me wonder how he got to that level anyway.

I play WoW atm, and getting people for instance/dungeon runs is a big pain in the ass. Not because we can't find people, but we find people that cant play their class AT ALL. We have warriors who don't tank, Priests who don't heal, Druids who only spam Moonfire, Rogues who pull aggro and kept dieing, Mages who pull enemies with Fire bolts. It's a pain to deal with, but once I hit 50+ those same people who wanted to dick around at level30 dungeons weren't getting invited. You may have lost 1k exp from dieing, but now you know in the future to not deal with this RDM. Eventually many more in your level range will see this and /blist him too. He'll have to join some nooby LS to get any sort of respect. So....wtf was I talking about again? >.>

Eww that sucks. You know what's funny though, the night before last, I partied in dunes on my WHM. Basically, I was the only mage in the party (5 melees) I still managed to keep the party alive and no one died on my shift (except for myself on one fight where we got a gob aggro and I bene'd to save the PT) I have enfeebling capped and healing as well ... also elemental. I don't waste mp and I'm also not tight about it either. I keep the proper bars up and all that ...

You know, at this level, we don't have refresh and more often times than not, the monsters critical will do much more damage on the tank than several cure Is can heal ... I don't understand why parties still believe they need a RDM or a BRD in order to get "decent" exp ...

Sorry to hear you met someone like that.

Its a sad truth that sometimes people arent very good at FFXI but think they are great. Its just more noticable with jobs such as RDM/WHM/BRD. The only thing you can do is warn your friends about them and try hard to never party with them again.

My primary interest was where he thought he was actually going to EXP at 64 in Sky? If memory servers me correctly Flamingos don't cut it at 64 anymore and the idea of killing pots / dolls for EXP isn't very appealing either.

But that's why I love it. And there are a lot of good RDMs out there. I count myself as one of them, as does my LS. (I know you're thinking both of those sources are biased, but doesn't mean it's not true! ^^)

I'm currently stuck a Lv.64 because I can't afford my Enfeebling Torque yet. (2.9mil. 1mil more to go!) I've always made sure I had the right gear. I stopped and spent about 10 days farming 1.5mil for my 8 Elemental Staves. There are RDMs out there that work hard to be the best there is. I get a lot of parties that I call "Call Backs." People I've already partied with that saw my name and send me a /tell, whether my flags up or not.

I've seen a lot of crappy RDMs, but there are still those of us who work out butts off to be great. It's too bad these crappy ones make people automatically think "usually you cant really find a good rdm."

but HQ staff has 5% more enfeeble chance if you use it on the same element spell you use, so are you going to get a full set of HQ? >.< or even enfeeble earring hehe.
dont worry abt that, pt when u can but of cos u need to farm some to get more important stuff like dark,light,wind,ice staff and try to max out enfeeble spell which is not hard and u can do it easily in a level up pt unless you are the rdm on top who dont enfeeble lol.
maybe even the rdm on top can max it as its real easy to get it max fast

I find soloing on RDM every so often beneficial in a lot of ways. What I plan to do is solo EMs as a RDM from time to time just to cap out spells (Healing, Enfeebling, Elemental, Enhancing) so that I don't worry about this stuff when I do pt in an exp situation. So, say, spend half an hour killing maybe 3 of 4 EMs just to cap out your skills so that when you do exp, that's one thing you don't need to worry about.

I know a RDM doesn't need ALL the staves, but I wanted to have them all. Matter-a-fact, I'm the only RDM in my LS that has all 8.

I don't have an Enfeebling Earring yet, but it's on my list. I would like to have that for my Maat fight as well. I may just try my butt of at the ENM and get the drop for myself. Enfeebling Magic+25 and an HQ Dark Staff will help prevent Maat Sleep resists. ^^ I keep hearing people say they don't know a RDM that did Maat the first time. I plan to be that one. RDM in my LS took 9 times to drop him.

wel a few days ago i had a RDM in my static party since we only got 4 statics included myself
WHM, BLM and PLD need to be refreshed and then the RDM also
during 3 fights we dit not get a single refresh
RDM was out of MP and not even used convert once

we asked for refresh nicely, still dit not get it
after the 3 fights we just booted him out and he warped out of there lol

if more people start buying there accounts then FFXI is gonne get totaly noobed up loooool

rdm G5 for maat use to be super hard when it was first out, but square had tweaked it like at least 2-3 times till now. If you had beaten it one time when it first came out, you have super eq and super lucky and super skills. But after they tweaked it for a few times, is no more big deal to beat him after one try now.

Maat use to be able to do asura first n dragon kick etc ws for rdm g5 and damage for those 2 are fatal. i remember there was one fight which he did asura fist and dragon kick in that battle alone. He was a big cheater rdm with super monk ability then which make it almost impossible to win.

Unless you think getting 2.5-3k per hour when your TNL is 20k plus you probably want to have a refresher. I've never had a pt work out with no refresher past 50 and I would probably disband on a pt if they invited me lacking one. IMO they are as important as a tank.

I've pt'd with a lot of bad rdm's and always thought how they would hit 75 just because they were a rdm. I've never run into a rdm that didn't refresh though! I mean that is the #1 reason they get pt's and if they can't even do that...... LOL Most of the rdm's I pt'd with did refresh fairly decent. Some would do it only after a battle even if it wore in the middle of a battle. But at least they did it! It was fun when I was lvling rdm and I would do all of the things a rdm is supposed to do and then see someone say "wow a rdm that does the job right!"

I'm a 75 WHM....I actually PREFER to party without a refresher sometimes. On mobs like Aura Statues, I like to have WHM BLM BLM or WHM SMN BLM instead of WHM RDM BLM. The mobs don't last enough, and if you have a NIN tank, all you really need to do is haste. It makes me sad that everyone DEPENDS on refreshers that much.

I plan to level RDM to 75 after I duo BST with a friend of mine. I know from 41 to 45..maybe even 50 I'm gonna suck at refresh, but I definitely won't suck THAT much >_<.

obviously bought thier account and probably doesn't know how to enter sky, and if they don't have any other jobs 65+ that character (previous player) must have had good friends to let him get sky access because no one wants anyone less than 65 to do ZMs.

Why don't people just change jobs if they don't want to do certain things they're required? If I don't want to tank, i'm not going to LFG as a WAR or a PLD. If don't want to heal, You better believe I'm not gonna be a WHM or a RDM, or sub either for that matter.

I'll respond to what I think he's trying to say.
Ruis, true, everyone DOES make mistakes. A high lvl RDM who doesn't use refresh is and gets pissy about people telling him to do so... thats NOT a mistake. A mistake would be to maybe forget about using refresh one, maybe 2 times... but one who refuses to use it? Please... I really don't consider it an accident either, as you put it.

And what's wrong with making a post about it? Big deal... so Capitalist needed to vent, and found a place to do so. You could have easily avoided this post he made, much less actually replying to it as well. >.<
