A weird problem

I load up POL go through the process of going on FF.I get all the way to the last screen where it says dont forget your work family etc...

Then i get a small grey box saying windows is going to install FF and then it starts configuring to do so.When its done it asked me for disk 1 of the game.I ctrl-alt-del and stop the process and load up POL again and no problems getting on and playing.Anybody have any idea what is wrong and how do i fix it??

I have been having PC problems with a BSOD but changed out my HD cable and so far so good.Any help is appreciated

Is FFXI still in your registry? Reinstall should help it.. But i dont know

Might be a bad file, should be able to check the files to see if one of them has gone bad. See if you can localize that first and might be easier to get more help on how to fix it.

How do i check to see if one is bad???

Should be in the POL console before you log in to the servers. That first menu should have a option near the bottom that says "Check Files" or something like that.

Ok i found and checked no bad files at all.I still get the grey box too...
