About Penpals Penpals is an online group for gamers and anime fans living in east coast usa (although we do encourage others to join in our chats and games too). We span through many mmorpgs and have plans for expanding even further. We also provide oppurtunities for our members to get together at official club meetings or to at least find others near them and organize their own meetings.
What can I expect? In our games you will find a group of friendly helpful players who play in your same timezone. You will also be given the chance to meet said players in real life if you choose. At our official meetings you will be provided with a safe drug and alcohol free atmosphere appropriate for all ages. Our meetings consist of alot of geekdom including console games, lan parties, roleplaying, cosplaying, group outings (to movies, amusement parks, bowling, anime conventions, etc) Pizza and pop will almost always be provided free of charge. All other activities etc will be a pay for yourself type feature as we do not request member dues. Many holiday events and contests will offer prizes etc to our members. And lastly you can find a friendly active forum to plan all your in game and irl meetings.
History of Penpals The name penpals is a play on words from Pennsylvania Pals. Although the leader and a few members live in PA, the group is open to all members everywhere, but it's primary focus is on those living in the EST timezone. The idea to form penpals started from planning a small get together among players of ffxi. I realized it was something that would be kinda neat. I posted to alla and KI and got a small handfull of responses. But I noticed there was a high excitment in the air. Many people were even willing to move servers to come join the linkshell, which i found odd since i had only advertised on the server specific forums. We were off to a good start. The linkshell was born on 10/18/05 and the forums went live a day or two later on 10/20/05. At this time the website is still under construction
