Yh... yeah, this is gonna sound kinda lame, but I need a ranger that can help me get the leaping boots. Ill pay 15-25k if I dont find em, and if I do get the leapin boots then Ill split whatever I sell them for 50/50. I know this sounds kinda stupid, but I am in real need of money. Thnx and bye bye!!!

Leaping Lizzy no longer drops Leaping Boots, she now drops Bounding Boots (Rare/Ex) so you can not make money hunting her now. The Leaping Boots are now dropped in a BCNM30 (3 person, 30 min. fight iirc).

EDIT:

Bounding Boots have the same stats as Leaping Boots just they can't be sold or traded.

I think it was actually a smart move on their part. Nearly overnight those things shot up from 200k to like 1mil. Along with players demanding certain jobs to have those boots players were starting to get stuck at levels that are not to desirable for most of the fun in the game. It was a major problem that needed to be rectified.

BCNM (Burning Circle Notorious Monsters) are fights you do at a designated place containing a Burning Circle. To initiate the fight it is required to have the appropiate orb, the orbs are gained by trading the correct quantity of Beastman Seals to a NPC in Port Jeuno.

BCNM20 (lv. 20 fights) = 20 seals
BCNM30 (lv. 30 fights) = 30 seals
BCNM40 (lv. 40 fights) = 40 seals
.
.
.
BCNM75 or BCNM99 (no level limit) = 99 seals

I dunno...did players ever really demand that you need leaping boots? I still see leaping boots as a luxury and not a neccessity really...and i haven't come across anyone that counteracted that line of thought x_x The only job I could of think that really might have a case for that is thf and even then I haven't seen much static about it. oo

I met at least 40 players that were RNG, THF, NIN, and DRG all had claimed to of been kicked from a party because they didn't have items like leaping boots. I've even witnessed a party leader kick a player before because he thought the player to be horribly equipped, all he would state is that the guy didn't have Leaping Boots and Emperors Hairpin treating it like it was a necesity.

All I can guess is probably on servers that were more developed such things probably don't occur, but with more accessible knowledge of items are made the more you'll start to see players that demand better to come up. It's just undeniable that it'll happen.

Also look at which ones they changes it's 3 key items that people claim to be luxuries only but were making rediculous price hikes. You have Leaping Boots, Emperor Hairpin, and Peacock Charm all "claimed" to be just luxury but parties starting to demand them. Evidence of this thought process is also in the fact that the Rabbit Charm even with it's price changes was not changed, that's because a THFs ability to steal a party could care less about. The Rabbit Charm in essance is the one of those priced high that truely a party will consider just a luxury.

Hrm, okay well you have a point about that. I admit I have heard stories about players being kicked from parties due to not having certain equipment, but I had always assumed that kinda thing wasn't too common. When you think about SE's choices of what to limit and what they didn't limit then it makes sense that these items were starting to become a bigger issue.

I don't think a player should be kicked because they don't have the best equip, but certain jobs NEED certain equipment, like any melee past 48 that doesn't have a life belt. Something like that is a must, just period, hell, I had a life belt when the only job I could equip it on was blm.

You contradict, life belt is one of the best waist equipments for a melee. So a player using a Tilt Belt or Master's Belt I guess are not adequatly equipped then?

Well actually forgot the price on Master's Belt, but I'm pretty sure Tilt Belt is cheaper then Life Belt. Both give +5 Accuracy, get a couple other items with +2/+3 accuracy and you have the life belt covered (If accuracy is all you are conserned about).

Well... I guess yall are right. I mean, the only reason I wanted the leaping boots was to sell them when they were priiced high in the AH. I guess Ill just go to that guy in jeuno and trade him some beastmen's seals, Ive got like a million of em. But I agree with the above... there are certain items that are a must. Like a Warriors belt, you NEED to at least have that to have a succesful war career. But I havnt heard about people gettin booted from partiescause of it, thats pretty low. But anyway... thnx for all your help guys and girls.

Haha, Rubion, you just don;t go "trade" beastman seals and get items, you need to win the fight, then have the item drop.

..... I don't think he was stating that the guy would give him the boots. I think he was stating more to get the orb to do the fight as I stated further up.

believe it or not as a dark knight between lvls 30-36 i was kicked out of groups repeatedly because i didn't not have leaping lizard boots or emp pin on ragnarok. it was crazy
i got them at lvl 37 the EX versions and now at lvl 40 i'm being kicked out of gorups for not having 2 sniper rings

however i can't go camp the archer rings any more because the EX version has no way to be upgraded into an EX version of sniper rings. *insert sad face here*

*Sigh* It's things like this that makes me wonder if I'm playing the wrong game sometimes. Thinking about moving to Fantasy Earth if it ever comes out in the US. Though knowing us we'll probably ruin that game too...

i never got kicked, and i don`t think i would kick someone not having 2 sniper (or at least one)

i got my first sniper with lev 46 and only becaus i got lucky with crafting results. otherwise i could not think how much time it will cost me to farm the money.

with some other job lev 75 sure it is easier to get equip i need for another job i like to play..
maybe thats one of the reason why some will kick you for not having the best

i dunno

i`m happy to play and to party, and as long as my pt is the same meaning, we`ll be ok :)

Oh I wish I would have gotten kicked out of a party for not having hairpin or boots. HOW I wish. (...But i'm usually starting all my parties anyhow...so, I get to kick all the other DD's!)

...Gear is nice, but having the top notched BEST gear is really not going to affect too much of anything in the long run. I'm currently THF 54/NIN27, Galka THF mind you, and I have yet to grab Hairping or Boots. (I figured a whopping +1 DEX for boots and +2Dex and +2Agi to pin is the ultimate factor that makes me the best THF in the world! /sarcasm off)

And yet, why is it that I'm hitting 500-700 on SATAs? DEX - 59(+31) AGI - 52(+20). I guess with Emp hairpin and boots, I'd be doing a lil bit more in DMG...(And this is with Captain Mrc. Headgear and Noct Gaiters +1)but I don't find it worth my time or money, and if I did have them, I'd probably sell them to some starved-idiot who just has to have THE ultimate gear.

So yeah...Unfortunately, when it comes to gear, I don't care too much as long as you've got something useful for the PT. Know your role in a PT, and you'll be fine. My only concern is when you don't know how to MB or open up a Skillchain at 50+....then we have a serious problem...especially after the BLM has asked you ten times repeatedly to open up the SC. ("Thank you." "Take care." /kick)

..Guess my point is....
Gear doesn't make a good player.
Good players make use of gear.

Yeah, I never been kicked out of a pt for not having certain gear. If I did I would have a protest for gear racism. lol

Gear discrimination not racism.

Oh back in the day I ran into people with that mentality. You had to have a Life Belt as a melee when you lvled and if you didn't people looked down their noses at you. But this was back when Haubs were like impressive if you had one. So I had been trying to ge a chest in Fei Yen but was not having much luck against the thfs. So I lvl and have no life belt, the leader of the pt comments on why I don't have one, I explain, and 15 mins later a drk strolls up and the leader tells me that I've been replaced and kicks me.

Next day, I get a pt, gather my stuff together and hustle to the homepoint in Jeuno. When I get there I have a couple people in the pt check me and next thing I know I'm kicked. I ask the leader and he said that people were complaining I had no life belt.

So ya I've been on that side myself and its so silly. I dont bother checking people's equips unless they show up to pt with a fishing tunic on. LOL
