Make sure to cast Barparalyze before going in. After you set Carbuncle on him, immedately run back. Waiting around is guarenteed to get your paralyzed. All lvl 20 Avatar fights lead off with their 3rd skill. For Ramuh, it's Thunderspark. You should be able to move out of range if you run fast enough, and even if not, you have baraparlyze up so it won't last as long.

1. Macro paralyna. It can be interrupted by paralysis so you may need to use it several times.
2. Do not attempt to Searing Light with your first Carby. He WILL be paralyzed and there is a high chance of SL failing (in which case you will almost certainly lose). Let the first one fight until he dies and summon the second before yag drink + AF.
3. You can try to run out of range of the opening Thunderspark, but it may not work, this is why you want paralyna macroed.
4. This may be obvious, but fighting him on earth or light day is best. Don't attempt him on darkday, or especially lightningday.
5. If you can, get a whm to group with you before you leave and cast protect, shell, barthundra and barparalyzra. Bars won't last the whole fight but they will help against the opening thunderspark.

It took me 3 tries to beat Ramuh, more than any other avatar, but it can be done.

ive tried so many times and still i haven't killed him when i run from the first thunderspark he stops in the middle and just hits me and nearly kill me and then the thunderspark hits and it does like 7 dmg even though i have barparalyze up and all the otehr stuff i get paralyze and then at the bottom once carby has died i try to recast him and im paralyzed and thats when ramuh starts to do the hard hits and one time he did judgement bolt and did like 300 dmg to me

Note: This is rather common knowledge, but the Bar-status spells (such as Barparalyze) do not actually prevent the status effect from sticking on you, they lower the time that it affects you. As Karinya previously stated, paralyna is your friend.

Actually, I think they can do both, but it's rare to completely resist any status effect that comes from a VT or IT mob, even with a bar spell. Usually the most you can hope for is a partial resist = reduced duration. Which is still better than nothing.

I know WHMs that regularly stack barblizzara + barparalyzra against tigers and undead with ice spikes, for example. It's not that uncommon for someone to get lucky and resist the paralyze - I think more often than they would have without bar spells.

Bar spells from experience work for mob lower than you not higher. They useless.

O yes that would make so much sense!

... sigh

bar spells work yust fine, even if the mob is higher then you ^^

idk but does all buffs stay by entering? what about 2 smn with a fast stoneskin and blink? + protectra/shellra

if that works, it should be much easier and maybe not paralyzed
you should be very fast to take advantage of them though...

good luck on your next try
