Just have a question

I used to play FFXI and I am thinking of starting up again. I want to know if I can get my old character back? I know that they offered this to Japanese players at some point in time. I have been out of loop so I don't know if they have made this avaliable to everyone?

maybe had a guy in my LS be out for like 3 months and his charater was still there...had a 6 hour update to do but everything worked fine

Rumor has it, that back in like December, they decided to hold on to Content IDs for a full year. I think they started this in anticipation of people coming back during the Welcome back stuff they did in April and May.

I was out of the game for 10 months. I'd cancel my ID, then come back before the three months, renew it for a week, and then cancel it again. I did this until March. After 6 months, I finally came back to the game full time. I was really worried that I was going to have to start over. (Check my sig, a lot of work done) and I had some rather expensive gear that would now be twice as expensive. I just figured I'd have to suck it up and start all over. NOPE! Thankfully I had all my stuff, and all my levels there waiting for me to come back and get to work.

So I'm not sure when it was they started that, but they're supposedly holding characters for a full year now.
