Toshio Murouchi: We’re now working hard to implement the new PlayOnline billing system before releasing the Xbox 360 version for retail. In addition to the current payment options (Visa and MasterCard), we will add more payment options such as debit cards which should be more familiar to European territories. Also, the currency for the monthly subscription will be changed from US dollars to Euros. We believe these changes will make our service clearer and easier to use.

so does that mean the card the bank gives you, like interact or PLUS? cause those are the services that are on my bank card. Hopefully this will let me play without having my dad paranoid about using his credit card. But they should still add prepaid cards.

Hmm well when I was playing FFXI they always took debit cards (took my debit card) for monthly payment, unless its different in Europe than in North America

Yes in other areas than the US, a debit card is offered by more than Visa and MC. While there are banks in the US that offer their own company debit cards, it is more common for them to go with Visa or MC. It's the opposite in other countries.

In canada there are no visa or mastercard debit cards so what can get frustrating for pepole without credit cards to play. I bet its the same in europe.

Yeah I was told I could use a debit card. Maybe it's a certain few?

Visa and MC debit cards are the only accepted debit cards. In other countries, they rarely, if at all, use Visa and MC. So to snare more users it looks like they'll be changing what forms of payment they take.
