View Full Version : How to change WS Animation?

I have a question about changing weapon skill animations. Do you just find the right .dat file and swap them? Or are there additional modification involved?

I wanted to change the WS Sidewinder to Blast Arrow, and Slugshot to Blast Shot. Since I am elvaan male, I switched

Sidewinder: ROM-80-121 with ROM-103-1
Blast Shot: ROM-80-126 with ROM-103-4


They seems to be switched in the model viewer, but when I am in the game They don't look changed at all. Anyone know why?

Check the weapon skill .dat in the modelviewer available from the sticky above and place it over the one you want it to represent.
Make sure to make back ups.

changing WS is just like changing armor, weapon, etc

The effects of Ranger WS are kinda like magic spells...the actual WS animation isn't what the arrow looks like. You hafta find the 2ndary WS animation.

I'm interested in changing the battle animations for my mithra. Can I simply swap .dats for that as well?

Also, what sticky above?

When ypu swap magic spells/ weapon skill animations you need to change zones for the change to take effect (or log out etc etc). Unlike armour thats loaded on sight by a change, WS's and magic seem to be stored in memory (I guess) and dosen't change until you change zones.

This is same with changing your "ability" (like changing haste spell to chainspell animation) animations or even using monster WS's on mithra (like changing cure to bomb toss.. haha)

We can swap animations for WS's? so basicly, a drk can use slice and view the animation of guillotine, but for the others itll show up as slice still? that would be great, imagine 1 inch punch looking like final heaven :D:D:D:D:D anyone care to explain us which files we have to swap? it seems that there's 2?...

only 2 files, you can view them in modelviewer under one the options is like "Display .dat File #" option

so like.. you can use scythe WS slice.. change the animation with retribution... and on your screen you can see yourself throwing your scythe and it goes flying. of course others in PT will see slice animation~

As far as I know, from all the sites I have visited, you can't change the WS for Sidewinder/Slugshot and below with this method.

It works for all the other WS though :(

you can change sidewinder/slugshot, I changed them both to relic WS versions on my game w

I changed them to Relic also, it shows up in the Model viewer, but it doesn't not change them in the game.

Which ones did you change to have them show up in the game!!

For elvaan male it doesn't work. :( as you can see by the original post of this thread.

80-121 is what I switched. It does not show up in game. T.T

not sure then it works for mithra though when I change it (since I play mithra :cool: )

Guess the game moved the Elvaan WS for Range to somewhere else, and Mithra was never changed. >.< /fume.

Anyone know how to find specific Dats? or it is all trial and error?

Can you change things like casting animation? It doesnt give a number next to it, but in the info box it says a file number. But all common emotions are the same dat number. Any help?
