Though question as it depends largely on supply and demand. Which is further depends on the times you're playing, and the times you play for, and with what kind of party.

There's really no clear answer to that kind of question.

redmage is probably the most useful in the mid levels where the bulk of people get pt-less syndrome, but then on JP times, there's more then enough rdm's here, not to mention rdms are pretty expensive for eq.

I know this isn't what you asked, but I'm just giving advice. If you are really asking which job is the quickest to level, then I suggest you find or put together an spt (static party). Not everyone will agree with this suggestion. But, with the right ppl (this is important), you can really fly through levels. Especially early (pre-50) and later (post-65) levels. Between 50 and 65 there's a bit of slow down to do AFs and BCNMs/ENMs (if you decide to to those together) to afford or attain better gear.

This way, it doesn't really matter which job you are leveling because those in your spt are leveling at the same rate with you.

It's not about what job is easiest to level to 75 - too many people that are new to the game always want the fast track. It's important that you play the game with the class you want to play... you don't want to be leveling quickly but playing a class you absolutely despise.

Brd can get you to 75 the quickest with the cheapest gear followed by rdm and whm. However, you mentioned melee. The cheaper the melee, the slower you will get to75.

Thank you for the wise and mature advice. :)

PLD isn't really that fast. They get alot of invites, but You need to farm alot in the higher end to get armor that you'll need to tank with.

As previously stated, BRD and RDM ( past 41 RDM will probably be in the lead; but they too can be an expensive job to play ) followed by WHM , BLM.

Not really... depends on supply and demand.

Just like no pt will want 2 whms, no pt will want 2 brds, etc. 2 rdms is somewhat possible since rdm's are very flexible, but still not really wanted.

If brds/whm are rare on your playing time, then it's a wanted job, if you always see 2 or 3 around, then it's not.

That's the fallacy of always thinking mages are more important then with melees, and thus should be gotten first, or would always make good pt member, etc.

Most of us should have grew out of Valkrum tells of "We got a whm, want in?"

You will sit and sit and sit, if there is more competition for your area. There will be times when you see 3blms, 2brds, 2 whms, 4rdms, and everyone spaming tells on the lone drk. Cause you need a DD.

Ive got invites on my MNK while not LFP but standing in Jeuno due to melee shortages xD.
If you want melee (THF-SAM-DRK-DRG-MNK-RNG), you will suffer and you will do a lot of looking for party, especially if you XP in Primetime hours. Additionally, due to the style and method people XP (insisting on IT+ usually), you will need great expensive gear to do your job effectively and not get a bad reputation (which would hinder your future invites). Sorry, DD is often LFP hell, there are times youll get a quick invite due to shortage, but Ill never forget hitting "Find Members" on my RDM and seeing 5 results: 4 Dark Knights and a Dragoon.

I find NA primetime only with significant melees. It also varies between servers and job levels.

lvl 37 is a very notable cut off point for seeing different jobs around.

JP times you will find more then enough rdm and blms.

Did you know that blm is the 2nd most popular job?

Among attacker melees, I think SAM has the easiest time getting parties. They have good skillchain opener WS, do good DPS, and are somewhat less fragile than other DDs when put into the first provoke position for SATA.

Of course, mage jobs tend to level faster than melee jobs (BRD > RDM > WHM > BLM > SMN in terms of levelling speed overall), tank jobs being faster than DDs, and BST coming in dead last due to the fact that you're solo most of the time.

I'd second the notion of a static party being the overall fastest.
If you have a group of people who want to get together as much as possible and XP, then you can take any job that fits in with 'em to 75 quite quickly. If time is a concern, that's the way to go.

It was true, but it may not be, remember we only go through it one time around, and some of us are on our 2nd to 3rd round. Like how it went from 5 drg lfg to maybe seeing 1 every 10 levels. or vaving 10 drk's to 2 around.

And then we had the ranger change, and ninja change which would further complicate matters.

if we speculate that 3 of 5 rangers quit, and at least 1 of those 3 pick a mage job, you just got a whole shift in pre 37lvl wave.

Another factor is the server your on. I've heard people complaining on one server about the lack of whm's and then on another whm's find it hard to get a pt.

For melee, mnk seems to be on a roll of late. Before they were passed by quite a bit but now I hear a lot of people saying "Get a mnk" in pt's. Sam is high on my list too. I enjoy their versatility.

I had a good laugh the other day. I logged onto my retired drk and 10 seconds later, I got a pt invite. I thought it was just a fluke and then 2 minutes later I got another! I actually had to go /anon! The 2nd guy was insisting I come exp with them, totally cracked me up. I had to explain that I sold most of my drk equips to fund other characters before he would let me alone!
