I'm looking to raise fame in Jeuno so I can get some more gobbie bags. My friend told me that the selbina quest was good for this.
I was wondering what was the best item to trade for money:fame ratio. If anyone could tell me that would be great.
I would have posted this in the quest section but no one goes there >.> move this if you want mods.
EDIT: By selbina quest I mean the quest where you give the man cabbage, corn, or moss.

I believe alot of moss will net you a fat slice of fame...might be wrong on this. I never got to the quest myself.
I like moss not because it's price but because we only need to trade 1 at a time. Which means you can macro
/targetnpc
/item "moss" <t>
infront of the quest giver and get it done really easy and convenient.
I traded about 8 stacks of moss and was enough to get myself all avatars in bastok/sandoria and all gobbie bags in jeuno.

8 stacks of moss x 12k = alot of money. man i miss the old days.
I think you get 700gil back each one you trade so the total lost would be about 5k per stack.

10k a stack on my server and you get 600g back.
It's worth it because I will use it forever, and 40 inventory spaces is too weak ;-;

Just a warning, the Selbina quest involving Boyahda moss lowers your Norg Fame, for some reason.
i've never had to exploit that quest for fame...
My favorite methods were Bubbly Bernie/Zeruhn Soot in bastok, Rabbit hides/bat wings in San d'Oria, and a whole BUNCH of random stuff in windurst.
The only time i've had to really exploit a quest for fame was getting norg fame.
Most of the time it isn't hard to get fame if you level up another job or two and use the mob drops, do a few other quests, and just have fun.
Most people have never done alot of the better quests in this game, which is sad because there's a LOT of humor in this game ><

cabbage in selbina gets you almost exactly what the cabbage costs at the NPC who owns that region.
you can basically max your fame for almost nothing, other than paying for the chocobo to ride to selbina

If you're going for a money/fame ratio, cabbage = corn >>>>>>>>> moss. Cabbage and corn are nearly break-even (if you buy from Zulkheim/Aragoneu vendor respectively), moss can be a big loss depending on how much you pay at AH (break-even is 7200/stack, do the math yourself). Also, NPCs have an infinite supply of cabbage and corn, while moss comes from AH (which in turn comes from enemy drops, in this particular case), and that's a finite supply.
If you're going for a time/fame ratio in terms of how much fame you get per full inventory of items to turn in, moss > corn > cabbage. Five stacks of items is 60 quest completions for moss, 20 quest completions for corn, 12 quest completions for cabbage. (One quest completion is one quest completion, and is equal for fame.)
So assuming Aragoneu and/or Zulkheim is available for shopping (i.e. not under beastman control), go for corn or cabbage (preferably corn for the time concern). Unless you think the much more significant money loss on moss - which adds up to being fairly substantial - is worth having fewer trips back and forth to Selbina. I don't think it does, but if you're really rich it might be.
Oh yeah, one more thing ... if doing this quest lowers Tenshodo/Norg fame, it does it so very slightly that it didn't even manage to bump me down one fame level in Norg when I gained a ton of fame levels in both Bastok and San d'Oria. Something tells me this is a common "scare" rumor that's repeated without anyone actually having seen it for themselves. Point being, don't worry about lowering fame. It either doesn't lower fame, or the effect is too negligible to mention.

I read about this quest on ''allakhzam'' a short while back, and someone said that trading moss to the guy in Selbina, only raises your fame in Bastok and Sandy. Jeuno fame is an average of Bastok, Sandy and windurst.
So, in order to raise fame in Jeuno, you can still hand over the moss for Sandy and Bastok fame, but you have to go and do some actual quests in Windurst too.
Is this person correct in what they said?
Here's the link I got the idea from.Click Here (http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?fquest=191&mid=111383553294290)
I recently bought all the items for Gobbiebag 2, (I've completed the first part, and now have 35 free spaces in my Inventory) but when I trade them to Bluffnix in Jeuno, he refuses them, and gives me that usual message. (can't rememebr what he says) So, I presume I still have to raise my fame somewhere.

I heard about this a while back.
But since any Norg quests aren't needed to raise fame for the Gobbeibag quest, and I haven't reached a high enough LvL to go to Norg yet....... I have decided to do any Norg quests seperately when I get to go there.
Btw, what LvL should you be to go Norg please?

I decided to use the Corn because there was no Moss in stock. I traded 20 stacks of corn and now I am the proud owner of 60 gobbie bag spaces. (Jesus Chris the last upgraded costed a lot, more than all the other bags combined D:).
Thanks for the info everyone.
Ugh >< Stuck on the last one, that's waaaay too expensive for me x.x
