i have a unupdated JP version (just reinstalled) and a fully updated NAFFXI is there any way i can swich the files to make the JP version fully updated?

Ummm.... yeah.... Run the JP version. LOL .... It will get the update just like you would on the NA version.

Yeah I wouldnt risk trying to coppy the update files from one to the other. You could wind up screwing it up and you would half to reinstall again. It would pry be easier just to install the patch the normal way
