i play bst myself. only lvl 25 and i love the job. here goes...
i had a run in with some really mean bst and i wanted to know are these just some random assholes that happened to play bst or do bst tend to do this in general?
i was camping aquarius b/c i wanted the axe for my rng. there were 5 other ppl camping it. a pt of 3 bst and a pt of rdm + rng. i was alone. the bsts kept examining me so i asked them, if they needed the axe. i got no reply. so i sent them kind /tell asking them if they would like to team up if they didnt need the axe and that i had no intention of trying to get damascene cloth. still no answer. after a half hr, aquarius had popped on the other side of the tree and the pt of rdm and rng had claimed him fair and square. they did not take him from a pet swap or anything like that, they tagged him as he popped.
they were taking a beating from aquarius and both were in orange hp range. both are 73+ players. i quickly telled the rdm if they needed help, and if so, id tank it for them. they brought me into their pt and i began to fight it as usual. then all of a sudden 2 of the bst came over with their korrigans and released them next to us. there were also a lvl 50ish pt there lvling and watching by the tunnel entrance. the korrigan aggrod one of the lv. 50s and killed him. i began to run around, moving aquarius away from the bst but they kept following us and releasing their korrigans. they ended up killing the rng mid-way thru the battle but by that time it had turned night and my af boots kicked in. they managed to aggro me with their korrigans but i ran away and lost aggro while the rdm kept claim. this happened for about 20 minutes, they kept chasing us and harassing us the whole fight until the end when they figured that they couldnt kill me. i made a gm call but no on replied for more than 30min. there were about 8 witnesses and most of them were shouting the names of the bst and how they were trying to mpk us.
is this normal practice for bst?! or was this just a case of running into some asshole bst? i hear a lot about bst mpk ppl but to harass us for 20+ minutes is not even funny, its just mean. i know some of you wouldnt do such a thing but this just really pissed me off.

The thing is, having access to a high level beastmaster is like having access to a dangerous semi-automatic gun. They are BY FAR the most lethal MPK'ers in the game. The user has to be a responsible person, and not abuse their power. Unfortunatley, you play FFXI... and not all people are on the up and up.
Bottom line, they were assholes... in the most extreme way. Anyone who would bring 2 Korrigans down to camp Aquarius has bad intentions... no question about that. A) Korrigans/mandragora types make lousy pets. B) there are plenty of non-aggressive pets they could bring, that are just as strong, if not stronger than the Korrigans. Blood balls, Darters, skimmers, etc. They charmed the korrigans to MPK if they lost pull, no question.
Sorry there are people like that out there. Too bad the GM didnt do anything... /shocked :eek: :rolleyes:

It's a possibility if they brought Korrigans with the planned intent it seemed they had.
Thing that I dont get is why they would put themselves in danger with the Korrigans. Even 2 of those wouldnt last long against aquarius, and they would have to release them to swap pets, opening themselves up to aggro. Stupid... just stupid.
Oh, and Jei, I doubt they were gilsellers unless they were bought accounts. No gil seller would have the patience to get BST to 73+.

Well, if you look at it from a personality type of view...why were they playing BST? It was probably because they were known gimps while leveling whatever job to 30....They said, hey....look, I don't have to party w/ these losers...I can just solo to 75. Also, they were probably enamored at the fact that most BSTs have mroe gil than the average player. They're probably selfish people, and have many problems in real life. Sad thing is.....why do people show who they really are on a video game. On another note, you could probably REALLY screw with their heads, because people like that seem defensive. Do a /shout in Lower Jeuno....in fact, get your whole LS to do a whole shout. More than likely they'll quit the game if enough people call out their bad actions. These people are probably middle-school kids, looking for a good laugh trying to entertain themselves. So have fun, don't get mad....screw w/ them mentally if you can. ヽ(｀д´)ノ

i had a few bad experience with bst while lvling bst. i was 38 expin in SSG. an a lvl 75 bst with a C.C did nothing but clear the entire area of all mobs. an honestly it seemed like they only targeted mobs i was expin off of. they left the bats an the leechs, but killed the ghasts, the ironshells an the sahagins.
your attack sounded like pure greed. upset they lost claim. the Korrigans where never ment to kill aquarius. but those who won the claim. i still dont know what mine was all about. bst hazing ??? lol who knows.
the only time i seen bst mpk on my servers was to piss of the people camping amemet for 24 hours straight. im curious did you guys kill it, or did you guys just try to get out of there alive ???
little ninja, i have trouble understanding what you say sometimes b/c you tend to write in broken sentences. but here goes.
my atk was out of greed? i dont see how that is. if you read my first post i explained what happened. the rdm and rng that won the pull fair and square when aquarius initially popped. they DIDNOT take him on a pet swap. both of them were taking a serious beating from aquarius so i offered to help. before they invited me, i stated that i was looking for the axe and that if damascene cloth dropped, it would be all theirs. i had no intention on making money off this, i just wanted the rare.ex axe for my rng. so i dont see where my greed came into play here. the rng already had fransica and the rdm didnt want it so they would have thrown it away anyhow since the axe is 100% drop.
we beat aquarius after being harrased for over 20minutes. it turned night time mid way thru the fight so my boots helped a lot. i was provoking and running aquarius back and forth after they released their korrigans. since it takes a few momments for monsters to aggro you after its released, i waited for their release each time before i moved aquarius again. there was no way i would let these assholes have their way. even after i got aggro from 1 korrigan + 2 linked mandies (forge the name) they still couldnt finish me off. i ran around the tunnels till i lost aggro while the rdm kept claim on aquarius.
axe, crab shell, crab meat and 6k gil is all that dropped.
Omni, Im 99.99% sure he meant they tried to MPK you out of greed, aka the BST's were at fault. You just misread I believe.

Just sounded like jealous people to me, they were annoyed you got there first and couldn't handle it like most so tried to get some lame revenge instead f waitin for the next spawn.
People like these are the ones who let down online gaming and give it a bad reputat

my apologies. ive recently got into a heated discussion with little ninja on the ninja forum. i thought he was looking for something to pick at again. my fault.

now that i had some sleep. it seems the bsts got mad when they saw you join the other 2 players in the orange. they saw their chances of an easy kill go byebye. an thus tried to mpk you. by then they were fiiled with pure greed an anger. that they were gonna make you guys pay. im glad they didnt win.. so ummm did you win loot on the axe ???
no need for apologies omni. i know my grammer is just horrid. but i think thats because i think alot faster then i can type. come to think of it. my spelliing is sucky as well... hmm english classes {yes, please}
haha I know what you mean ^^ I got into a lot of heated discussion too lately. Only after a few hours later that I realized I should have said something totally different.

To be an ass.
What I've found is that high level BST's dont like competition. They will make life difficult for lower level bsts if they can. Someone in my LS that was around 61-62 was in Boyhada tree exp'ing. He spent like 30 mins converting a bunch of spiders to Even Match, and some 70+ bst comes along and kills them all. So then he's just trying to regular exp, and the bst keeps killing any potential pets, basically MPK'ing him, by making sure he didnt have backup pets. He followed him around doing this for a while, harrassing him.
Some people are just assholes. Some are inconsiderate. Some are fucking stupid. Unfortunately, all 3 have the same result.
woa. would GMs respond to that kind of harrasment?

lets face it. the GM's will never do anything, if i had actually called an complained, id would get the usual. " we will look into this matter" or " they have as much right to those mobs as the next guy." an yes this is true an alright, but not when you see them target obvious mobs your expin on.
before i level i do a /sea all for that area. just to see how many are in the zone, an what they could be doing. then i break it down. /sea all bst 37-40. at that time no bst were in the area. so i headed to SSG an make camp just before the rock wall/door that leads to norg. add to my search comment who i am an what im using i proceed to lvl. after chain#3. they showed up. an for 45 mins i struggled to get anything. sad part was it was a 75 bst with +1 haubek/thick set. you know i thought i took every step in letting other bst/players where i was, an what i was doing. its not like i was /anon with no message up.

yea, they let me have the axe. the rng already had one, and the rdm wasnt going to level ranger any time soon he said.
well im glad we are being more calm to each other now :thumbsup:

lol alot of times my poor grammer gets me into trouble. then sometimes im just stubborn( thanks dad). but if we had that same chat about nin in person. i most likely wouldnt have come off the way i did. an i am sorry for that.

Are you sure the 70+ BST wasn't farming for webs? If the BST was killing only spiders, then he was probably just farming. If the BST was following your friend around and killing all of the spiders AND funguar, he was being an ass and trying to mpk.

Wassup man.. btw, it was Erome... ask him, he'll probably have it fresh in his memory, I remember him talking about it in LS chat. He said that first the BST came and killed all his spiders (yes farming is a legitimate excuse there) but then they followed him around taking all the pets when he tried to swap. I believe the BST was Takety(sp?) (who might not have been 70+ now that I think about it, maybe 67-68). Anyway, ask Erome, hes the one that I was talking about.

Omni, it sounds like you just ran into some assholes, plain and simple. For most bst's it is VERY bad business to try to mpk like that.
btw... there is a gilseller bst on ragnarok now, that was power-levelled to 75 by a blm gilseller who is part of the ls crew. That bst now camps either amemet or phantom worm almost 24/7 and mpk's every chance he gets if someone is killing whichever NM he's after. He's been suspended a few times I think, lots of gm calls made constantly.
Oh... in regards to using korrigans, I think that they're pretty dangerous to bring downstairs to use. Mainly due to the funny charm rate on onions and the linkage with those downstairs in the first place, but people DO use them down there. They're usually pretty dumb people, but w/e. And having used them again aquarius, they're the best thing that I've used on it, not the worst. But it's a much better idea to just use whatever downstairs, then if you get aqua, to drag him upstairs to kill with the mobs there.
Interesting that you find Korrigans to be the best pet. I know most BST's use Mouroiche's to fight it, so there must be something about them that is good.
Is it the counterattack move, or maybe the guard skill that the monk mobs possess that makes them ideal?
I've only been involved in 2 BST-Aqua fights, and it was when I was low 60's so I just used spiders and death caps, which suck due to their low HP and weak attacks.
I guess I was thinking Blood Balls and Darters/Skimmers would be better pets, and non-aggro to boot. Also, Korrigans have below average TP moves, with the only really good one being head butt, and 2 shitty aoe moves in scream and dream flower. When I rely on a pet for a TP move, korrigans suck. They are good fighters though, since they can avoid much dmg by blocking or countering the attacks. That all being said, I dont think its a safe practice to use "sic" against Aqua at all, so TP moves are irrelevant for that.

well, on remora there are many BST gilsellers, and i waas leveling my BLM in there on crabs while BSTs were MPKing the hell out of each other and every other person camping and eventually they all left and amemit spawned like an hour later. most bsts are awesome, i got many friends who are bst, like sangeruge on unicorn who has helped me with his bst where no other job could, and i got 2 60 bsts in my ls, who have not only taught me a lot about bst, one of them was pl'ing us with a 52whm in yhoator at level 28, and he'd charm and pull mandies to us so we didn't have to pull, and cure when the whm was out of mp, it was amazing because the exp was insanely fast, everyone but the blm in the pt asked to join our ls, and half of them were really excited about what bst could do. on another note, give the GMs some credit, we were exping in teriggan on pugs and crabs and had some known gilsellers fishing with sneak on. well, they got aggro and brought all their pets on us once. ok, thats fine, the next time they did it, we lost a nin, ok, back to exping. the third time they did it, and this time it was on purpose cause they had fished up a manta with like 12 pets out, and they decided to zone, so we took the manta, killed it, no drop, and they zoned back in, pulled mobs on us and zoned. we zoned and called gm, i got response within 5 minutes and we went back to exping when the coast was clear. and they went back to fishing and i was talking to the gm while we were exping, and the gm was saying it seems like they'll have to look into it, blah blah, closes connection. well, they fish up another manta and zone it with more aggressive mobs and the gm sends me a tell "beware (whatever the gilsellers name was) has pulled another, inform your party" or something close to that, i tell them, and i tell the gm "we're fighting, and the mobs haven't aggro'd us, we'll try and watch out" and they say "i've sent tells to all of them, i'll come out there if they mpk you again." the pt ended up disbanding long after the gilsellers left, but on the whole, they gms were very helpful, and always have been when mpk has occured. dunno if ur gm experience was flawed too, but if MPK is in the call wording, i have always been answered within 10 min or less, but that last experience was good because the gm kept in touch while we were exping, and i know they were monitoring the situation like they say they do, so give them a little credit, and give bsts a little credit. there is bad in all things, it seems you just didn't find the best people and service during your exprience and i hope you have better ones with gms and bsts, both i think are great.
