I have just started the game, no knowledge of it, nothing, just a avid FF fan.
When i got my WAR/MNK to 18/9 i hit a concrete wall. I found that i could solo a little longer but it would be easier to be in a party. I was outside the (tagtoni? something like that) canyon in the Val dunes. But i find it incredably hard to find 1 person to join a party.
It not that i cannot get into one, just i cannot find anyone in the similar level or wanting to exp. Am i in the wrong area to look for a party? I find it hard to get exp at the moment (monsters are easy/decent) just its time consuming. Can one recommend a place to go?
Also i would like to hear if anyone else has the problem? Thanks!

Open up your menu and bring up the region info map. It will show you all the zones. Chocobos can be rented from several places, but the quest for your chocobo license is in Jeuno. You also cant start the quest until you reach level 20.

Thought the requirement to start Chocobo Quest was 15 now.. or did they just change the level your currently selected job needs to be in the 3 starting cities to pickup a Chocobo?

Requirement to start quest still 20. You can rent choco from 3 main cities at a reduced riding time at level 15, but requirements to rent from crags and jeuno still 20. (not sure about outlands cities -norg, kazahm, rabao)

How do you get to Jueno from valkrum dunes? I have levelled to 20/10 but want to get my chocobo to get to qufim island, by the way how do you get to the island?

Chocobo's you can't ride until you have the Chocobo License. You can only get Chocobo License at lv. 20 in Upper Jeuno's Chocobo Stable.

After you have the License then any job lv. 15 and up can rent a chocobo from the 3 starting nations.

Qufim Island is accessed through a small tunnel further down from Port Jeuno, you'll head toward the residential area in Jeuno and were the spiral stairs are, leading up will be Lower Jeuno, then Upper Jeuno, the Gardens. Head down the stairs from Port Jeuno is Qufim Island, the actual island is once you get outside of the tunnel route but the tunnel route to the island is considered part of the island zone wise.

When doing the Chcobo License quest don't confuse Geisl Greens with Gausbit Greens. I've seen this happen a lot and people stating the quest is broken when it was their own lack of paying attention.

There's 2 routes you can take from Valkurm. Either :

Valkurm Dunes -> Konshtat Highlands -> Pashhow Marshlands -> Rollanberry Fields -> Lower Jueno.

Watch out for aggro in Rollanberry from Goobbue, Ochu, Quadav and Goblins.

or

Valkurm Dunes -> La Thiene Plateau -> Jugner Forest -> Battilia Downs -> Upper Jeuno.

Watch out for aggro in Battlila from Tiger, Orcs and Goblins.

You can go to Kazham. You'll need a Kazham airhsip pass. You'll need to get a Key from Giddues, Yuggot Grotto and Palbororough Mines. I'd suggest you to get help cause it can get rather tough in those areas. You can level there up to level 31-32.

here's a guide to where to go to level

past level 30, you usually want to stay in jeuno to seek/form party, then travel to the agreed upon destination together.

all you need is patience. It's not hard, just tedious

also at low levels (1-60) its just as common to have a bad party as a good one

example: you get invited to a pt, and it takes 2 hours to get 5 people then someone has to logout and the leader gives up and disbands. 2 hours wasted, 0 xp

or the pt forms and everyone goes to camp but someone doesn't know how to sneak properly and they die on the way. then someone else dies on the way. then someone homepoints and disbands. hours wasted

or the pt forms and gets to camp but people have no skill or crap gear, and you wipe on the first fight. you spend 10 mins recovering and almost wipe on the 2nd fight. after a few more fights you wipe again and disband. several hours wasted, and much XP lost.

stuff like that is common at low levels unless you play with people you know.

lol, it was like that yesterday.
First party i got into yesterday was rubbish, we had a white mage who couldn't cure when we needed it, she even started fighting when we needed a cure, we had to tell her to stick to curing.
Then we had a warrior who said he will tank, full stop. Yet he couldn't keep the hate so i provoked to stop it hitting the white mage. He had the nerve to get piss off about it. Someone died so we waited ages for them to get back.

I left the party as it was a shambles.

The next party i joined was a professional party. No i mean it. They knew exactly what to do and what their role was. A ninja was tanking and actually kept the hate on him for the whole battle, the others didn't need to provoke. Because of this i or the other didn't really need curing as it was just the ninja that was being damaged. So we just fought the monster. We only stopped when the white mage ran out of mp. We gained alot of exp(2levels pretty quick). This is how it should be.

I agree, we will always get like 2 crap parties(or more) then a good one will come. Good thing come to those who wait~ =p

Recently, I've been duo'partying with my friend. We've been leveling RNG... it's a hell of a lot easier to have successful parties in Valkurm when you start off with RNGx2.

Most of our parties have been RNGx2, NIN, WAR, SMN, WHM. Either the WHM or the SMN could be a BLM. The healing's not too bad. Wonderful up until goblins, which were a little harder, but not too bad. Now we're 19 and planning to go to qufim with a couple of friends of ours who have 19WAR and 19NIN. Awesomeness.

If we can alleviate the pain of Valkurm, then maybe we can help out in Qufim :D.

I was just in the jungle. There was on.y one party my age and only around 20 other people. A paladin offered to help us, he was level 62. So he just started casting spells why we keep hitting the monster. Basically power levelled.

levelling up in this game is harder than learning another language.

I should've taught myself japanese during the time when I was looking for parties... such regrets!
