What do you think will be in the next expansion?
I think they'll keep adding to CoP for some time.

Ya, man. Chill, CoP isn't even done yet.
Hell, Zilart still has at least 1 more mission that SE needs to add in.

As for next expansion, I'd love to see a more inter-nation based storyline and just sortof do away with alot of the Zilart/Kuluu stuff. There's 2 more Kingdoms hinted at in the CoP storyline I believe, so it'd be kind of cool to have some kind of interaction with those and the current countries, but instead of it being some ancient evil (ala the kid) or something being reawakened it be more of a different style... like a power hungry leader or something like >_>

I'd prefer they do something with Bard, and here's what I mean.
Restrict Bard to Male Only, and make the Females get a Dancer Class instead. They should also be able to work together, i.e. a Bard plays a certain song, and the Dancer can dance to the same tune increasing the status effects.

I posted this on Allakazam, and Gamefaqs, but I noticed a trend in FFXI.
First there was FFXI, and ROZ missions were being added as time went on. Between the Feb-Apr updates in 2004, they finished the Zilart storyline. That's 5-7 months before the next expansion came out (Sep 2004: COP.) They said in a past interview that they will release a new EXP pack every 1 to 1 1/2 years. My guess? New expansion pack when XBOX 360 comes out, or sometime after. I guess January-March of next year for new EXP pack. This means I bet COP finishes 5-7 months before the next EXP pack comes out.
Oh here's the bulk of this post.
http://rpgfan.com/news/2005/1529.html
Producer talks about visual upgrades for XBOX 360 version (or keep beating around the bush about 360 maybe having a visual upgrade. He also mentions how long the next EXP pack HAS been in development. Speculate away folks, it's been in the works for some time now.

I doubt they'd make you complete CoP to play the next expansion.
CoP didn't require that you beat the RotZ missions...
They pissed off enough people (and still do) by tossing out an expansion where most of the content is locked behind restrictive missions.
Levels is one thing...

I agree. As good as I hear the stoyline in CoP is, the missions are very dificult, and annoying. Many people will never complete them, and thus will not buy the new expansion, if CoP completion is required. The way I see it, advancing in Zilarrt missions gives you something. Advancing in CoP missions doesnt (except access to a few new areas, but what is the ~real~ advantage in that?)
Frumply
05-23-2005, 09:23 AM
Sounds like nothing more than a hoax. Any mission additions would have to be standalone, or would require that CoP missions be dumbed down significantly; I doubt much more than 1~3% of the FF playing population have completed all the missions. While the missions themselves are not too difficult, the fact that they're a bunch of stupid timesinks kill any motivation to assist others (parts of chapter 8 could be considered as help-able since you could go for the map NPCs, but that ends up doubling the mission time, and leads to unneeded stress).
Those doing the missions on a static may think differently, but most of the JPs playing through the CoP missions do them on pickups -- and it's turned to more of an obligation to finish the missions than anything else. Frustration grows, as if you miss the chance to do the missions within the first week or so (when most of the people get them completed) you're probably going to be stuck, unless you shout for hours. The NA pickup crowd? Pretty much all I hear are the Promyvion shouts, and even those seem to fail often.
So, assuming that 3% complete the missions, and assuming there are 1mil subscribers, that's still only 30,000 players that may find the 'missions' appealing. That's also assuming that all of them will want to go through these missions again, after playing through a myriad of slow quests.

the next expansion will be centered around Tarutaru/Magic and just about anything having to do with those things.
thing about it. rise of the zilart had to do alot with humes.
most of the characters in the story line where hume. We came across 2 hume civilizations. The zilart are hume like, ect.
chains of promathia was elvaan oriented
tavnazian is completely elvaan, most of the main characters were elvaan, and we explored elvaan history.
im expecting the next expansion to focus on the tarus and magic.
I'd like to see new magic jobs, more spells, new avatars
I am expanding the new areas could be a new continent, maybe the far east that is hinted at, but that may be saved for the mithra expansion right afterwards. I am guessing that the story will somehow explain where the avatars came from and what they have to do with altana and the other gods.
I'd like for the back of the box to say:
-Explore the lost Far East: 40 New Areas, including the lost continent of __________
-3 New Exciting Jobs including Geomancer, Oracle, and Blue Mage
-Prepare for battle with a new set of summonable Avatars
-Experience a new story line and meet exciting characters
-Take your game further with new betting PvP arenas for team play, 1 on 1 matches, or epic Alliance battles!
-New mini-games including chocobo racing
-See Vana'diel in a whole new light with upgraded graphics specifically for the PC, XBOX 360, and Playstation 3.

im guessing the expansion when it comes out will have 1 or 2 new towns because if you look at current ones. rabao, kazham, and norg are onnected to the three mains one. and tavnazia is connected to sandoria, so 2 more for windurst and bastok?

Tavnazia is linked to Jeuno Auction House. I think with the new expansion they will allow you to change your home nation to Jeuno, and add a whole set of rank missions for Jeuno. I also think that they might add more rank missions to the existing nationa, maybe allowing you to get all the way up to rank 15 or something. In addition, I think there will be a level cap increase to 85, 50+ new zones, and tons of new Lv. 75+ levelling locations.

That "Flight of the Phoenix" crap is so fake I started giggling while reading through it.
Anyway... we won't get new jobs(please feel free to read this, again and again), we won't get a new jobs, and we won't get to become citizens of Jeuno. I can bet my account on all that. It's storyline won't be directly connected to RoZ or CoP, but only make refrence to it. The only possible expection to this rule is the addtion of more Nation Missions.
I am almost postive the new expansion pack will involve one of the following:
-Land of the South.
-Land of the East.
-Land of the West.
-Mithran Islands/more of The Outlands.
In no way was RoZ more Bastok and CoP more San d'Oria. RoZ had almost no relation to any of the nations and only really dealt with the Outlands(Rabao, Kazham, and Norg). CoP gave light to all five races, and their four nations, equally.
SE said something about no more additions to the map... hmmmm... I wonder what that could mean.

They said that the Vana'diel map was complete with CoP. The Northlands, Tavnazia, Quon, and I forget the other continent's name are all considered together to be Vana'diel. Any other continents (Mindartia?) are not actually considered to be part of Vana'diel. So that's where they're coming from :p
Sortof like how in the Warcraft universe, the world is known as Azeroth, but in actuality it just refers to the Eastern Kingdoms and not Kalimdor.
Not sure if I was terribly clear on that, but I'm sure you get what I mean.

My Take on Jueno, As i do believe there will be Jueno Missions one day

Heyo , First i'm not a big fan of PVP, but im gonna freestyle and come up with a way to incorporate PVP in the main cities into the Storyline. Based on a Rumour I heard from 2ch.
Its also based on your Rank and the completion of the Rescuing of the Ambassador from Delkfutts tower.
AS you enter Jueno Any part, You are greated by the Ducal Guard.
Wulfgang: " Greetings Triel We've been hoping to run into you for awhile now. It seems Your fame has been steadily rising thruout the city. We of the Ducal guard also are aware of your past deeds and the Helping of the Duke in his and Juenos success.
Wulfgang :" Im sure youve noticed in your travels The construction of the Stadium in Tahrongi Canyon. The stadium is not simply there to provide games for bored nobles and Aristocrats. They are to be the training grounds for Adventurers should the need arise if Jueno has need of them one day."
Crooked Arrow:" What our commander means is that Arrangements have been made, with each nation that took part in the war to rid the lands of beastmen. Take this invitation to your consulate in Rulude." There you will learn more, We are simply to deliver the message to available and influential adventurers.
Triel looks in her quest log nothing..
Triel looks thru her mission logs.
Jueno M-1 " Invitation from the Duke "
Mission Orders: The Ducal guard Have givenyou an invitation to take part in something big. Head to the Consulate to and speak to the Ambassador.
Rulude:
Ambassador:" Ah, triel Its been awhile since you rescued me from the tower, Again I thank you for it. I see the Ducal guard have found and given you the invitation."
Ambassador:" What's that? OH!, this is an invitation to take part in the further training of adventures in an endeveour to take part in The soon to be Expeditions to the Far Eastern Lands."
Ambassador:" Why the Far East? , Well it seems that a natural disaster of sorts has taken place there and Jueno has volunteered to help with aid and relief."
Ambassador:" Wulfgang, will lead the expedition to the new lands, But he was tasked to find adventurers to help fill the Ranks of the Ducal Guard. Your job is to head to WIndurst and speak to the Star Sybils guard leader and Register to participate with the Stadiums training regiments."
Ambassador:" Take this Stadium pass to Semih lafinah and have her register it. Then You will be able to take part in the New training excercises. This expedition can help Further our nations influence, We're counting on people like you Triel, Dont let us Down.
Triel Receives the Stadium Pass.
Triel looks atthe Stadium Pass.
Stadium Pass: An unregistered pass used to take part in Training excercises at Tahrongi Citadel.
Jueno M-2 " Tahrongi Citadel"
Misison orders: You are to proceed to tahrongi Canyon and Visit the new Citadel. There you must have your Pass registered in order to take part in the Expediton training.

Just a heads up, RPGfan.com has reported an interview with Final Fantasy XI Producer Hiromichi Tanaka regarding the Xbox360 version of FFXI. In the interview Tanaka points out that the next Final Fantasy XI expansion began development at the same time as Chains of Promathia.
So I'm guessing something big must be in the works for the next expansion pack.
As for release date, CoP is still relatively new and not all has been unlocked in the storyline. With Zilart, the storyline was completed, and then the next 5-6 months were spent introducing stuff like Dynamis and Ballista. I'm guessing the same will go for Chains of Promathia, with the storyline coming to an end sometime in the next month or two, and new gameplay additions coming during the summer and fall, with a late 2005/early 2006 release of the new expansion.
But maybe even...coinciding with the Xbox360 release of the title?
Just another interesting note, in the article Sage Sundi also mentions that discussions for release of FFXI in China are underway. It looks like the release of FFXI into further areas of the world has not ended with the release in Europe.

Why would you be willing to be your account that you won't be able to become a citizen of Jeuno? The freaking Jeunoan Flag is already in the DAT files. I don't know how the CoP storyline will fully play out but if these things are not addressed further before CoP is finished I know that I'd be more interested in Tenzen's homeland and the rebirth of Phoenix as possible storyline/mission points for the new expansion, whatever it may be.
u guys ever remember that there is a "vanadiel time"???
its been over 100 vanadiel years since the "crystal war" from the opening. and vanadiel looks the freaking same since 3 years ago when the PS2 version launch which started the FFXI storyline, that was when it was about 20 years after the "crystal war"
i think its time that places look different and more updated. alot of places should get renovated and new technologies should be introduced.

Gloomy, that 'time' resets often(without us knowing) its still has been twenty years since the war. I think the war ended 963~.
I admit, Jeuno citizenship is the most likely out of all the things I mentioned, but simply won't happen. I can give you one direct reason. CoP. Chapter 3-1or2 Jeuno cutscene(that introduces Tenzen) I think it is...
It mentions Jeuno has the power to destroy "insert your nation here". For the Jeuno citizenship to be possible, they would need to change the previous expansion pack, which would not happen.
Also, that .dat file is probably used for NPC use. Like in Jeunoan buildings.

After changing alligences to Bastok a month or two after CoP was released, the mission where you have to fetch a faded crystal from the crag, Cid starts talking about the relavance of the crags. He then mentions something like "I'm curious why one of the crystals was destroyed at the crag."
So yea, S-E isn't beyond adding a few lines to previously created cutscenes in order to make the overall storyline stick together.

Adding jeuno citenship would probably overthrow the conquest balance on the long run.
Even making it difficult to acquire people would probably strive to get it and we'd probably have a situation in wich jeuno dominates the conquest and other nations never get in first. Even allying the three nations against jeuno would probably not be good for game balance, so if they added jeuno citizenship they should probably avoid having jeuno citizens take part in conquest at all.

One way to do it is to have Jueno sub allegiance like Sub jobs.
Im writing something about Jueno Mission series and its relation to Promathia and the 3 nations and to the Conquest.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
But the basic Premise is this.
You would speak to the Ducal Leadership about an upcoming mission to the Far East to Help Tenzens homeland.
You then go to speak to your nations leadership and they explain that no matter what Jueno wants you must first remain loyal to you nation.
TO do so You cannot receive CP for your home nation, BUT if you explore and adventure in the Far EAST you would recieve Jueno CP.
Jueno CP items would be imported items from Said lands. You'd rise in rank as you would in normal missions series. But your rank would only apply to Jueno for the gaining of CP items and Jueno based quests.
Jueno CP items would have to be more than the average +1 type however.
The Jueno missions themselves would have an ambassador in the far east that you would recieve the missions from.
And a few would bring you back "home" to Speak to either Lady Esha'tanarl, or the Ducal Guards and maybe Aldo.
These missions would feature a big influence on Avatars and the life of all vanadielians. Diabolos would be a key feature in the missions. Phoenix's rebirth would End the " at Release"missions.
The Emptyness should also figure heavily into it also. Liek having them outside of the crags since they have disfigured Tenzens home so much.
These are some ideas.
But its all speculation as they say.

Rotz impacted on the storyline by adding foes to the 3 nations in the way of the misions.
the Ziraat themselves arent figured prominently in each nation .
But their legacy is felt.
Like when Zid sends you to Ro'Maeve to get the "Artifact" of the ziraat.
Ayume comes from Norg herself so we learn about that.
Fenrir and the Kuluu figure greatly into the Storyline of Windurst.
I forgot most of Sandorias mission series ><
Also im working a theory on how Jueno and Nation missions could tie into each other.
The Death of Kam la nuat is discovered , Esha'tanarl becomes Juenos new Duchess. But the nations cant afford to trust Juenoans as much now.
When you leave on the Jueno Mission Series . It also starts Your new Nation series. Basically you are now a double agent sortof.
Not oonly do you work for the gain to yourself and Jueno. but also for the betterment of your nations. After the events in ROtZ.
Ill work that in also ^^.

The best one could hope for is Jeuno missions w/o citizenship. CoP introduced a strong sense of politics(more so than the missions before it). If that was the case, I would love to see your character sent out to the three lands near Vana'diel. (West, East, and South)
Oh and... okay Humes and Elvaans. Same thing. Humes are in no way at all Zilart/Kuluu related, not even a little bit. They don't share the weakness of Apathy as well. Tavz was only Elvaan based at its birth... but by the time of its death and current statues its majority of Elvaans is not so much, it contains all five races, excluding Mithras(which not a single one has ever been to the city, meaning the opening video was incorrect :P ). CoP as a whole is about all five children of Vana'diel and thats one its major themes... don't want to spoil anything but its symbolism that members of all the races come together and fight this evil that dangers the land.
