NA PS2 with JP game

ok... so i have been playing on the PS2 NA version
of this game with an official NA Sony HDD
i recently purchased the JP PS2 version of the game
(POL disc, zilart disc) and i have had the NA version installed
for quite some time
i have NOT received the discs in the mail yet but i want
to know what to do when i get them

1.) Will i have to delete everything from the HDD?(i only
have ffxi, pol, zilart, and promathia installed anyway)
2.)this is the LONG awaited question... WILL i be able to
do this with the NA console and NA HDD?
if not, will a mod-chip be needed?
and if it will work, with or without a chip, how will i install it
i ask this because i didn't have to install anything but
CoP because it came pre-loaded with everything as did all
other HDD's
PLLLLLLLLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ respond in detail, give links and as
much info as possible :confused:
i seriously want to know, because i don't like ONLY being able
to use VanaHand on friends comp every other week which is
really lame as it is increadibly limited
