For over a year now I've been wanting..nay..DEMANDING that we see a "gold saucer" like place for FFXI.
and I just thought I'd bring it up again..cause..well I'm bored :P
Follow me here..
we now have 100% confirmation there is "land to the east" where Tenzen and all these "asian" influenced stuff in the game is from..yes?
Well how about the Tenshodo open up a nice "Casino" structure there...
It'll have
-mini games ..many many mini games
-a battle arena OF COURSE our first real pvp 1v1 stuff.. where we can bet on the outcome.
- Chocobo races!! you can race, you can bet, you can watch!
- Chocobo breeding..
each player gets their own pet chocobo.
and you can breed them with others, buy/sell/trade etc...
and of course there will be birds suited for eachlocation..
like the other day someone mentioned how Beau. Glacier is a total pain in the ass to run around in (especially doing CoP chapter 5)..
anyway, a snow chocobo would rule there.
- and lastly , we could have casino style games..
but they could actually then incorperate the card game ..INTO FFXI to get people to actually...you..PLAY IT.
it would no only benefit the player with something great to do..
but it would give SE countless more hours of people playing which would up profits..etc..etc..
anyway...that's all I have to say on that..
oh and..
WHERE IS THE MOOGLE HOMETOWN!!
I wanna see that too kthnx.

All of it sounds pretty doable. except the chocobo breeding... That would be very hard for SE to accomidate for everyone breeding chocobos. But everything else sounds like fun, but remember, were not in the future like FFVII. Were in the past, so video games and lasers are a no-go. They have to keep with the scheme of Vana'diel.
But I like that idea a lot.

You guys are not seeing how easily this could be mulipulated and harmful effects of "casinos" in FFXI.
Inflation sucks, but whats worst is when the prices go up simply because someone won 1,000,000 gil in a game of chance when they shouldn't have. On servers like Midgardsormr, where the is simply too much money be spent, Gambling will and already started to take a heavy toll. When you sell items you have earned or invested on, you help everything around you. IE#1, you farm Beastmen Blood, this helps crafts while spending the crafter's gil, and you get gil as well. IE#2 you plant seeds in your Mog House, the farming of the seeds gains money, you lose money then gain, then the crystals / crafting materials you gain(or don't gain) you sell to someone spending money, who will finally use it in crafting.
Now let me tell you what "Casinos" do, and no not talking about all that shouting. Two harmful effects. First off, they give money, sometimes A LOT of money to people who shouldn't have it yet. Like if you gave a 500 poormen, millions and millions of dollars, and they all spend it in one area, it will hurt people who are working for those millions of dollars. They didn't spend any money or time getting it, so the money is very disposable. Usually they will spend it on armor, and if God wills it, will spend a larger amount then original(this has happened with Enchanted Sword, I think its called, on Midgardsormr). If they spend it on crafting materials, they can easily clean out the market everytime they make a visit to the AH, raising the demand higher than the supply, raising the price, but not everyone will be able to keep up. Is this something a lucky level 40 with gimped armor should be doing to the game. Buying gil hurts less than this.
Second negative effect is, that it speeds up inflation. People with lots and lots of gil sometimes burn it on hosting a casino. They lose some and they gain some. This isn't too harmful if you think about it alone, but you must consider the gamblers, themselves. You have people making tons of gil and I explained why thats bad. But you also have people losing gil. They are tricked into this fantasy thought "Gambling will make you rich!", much like the USA had during the great imigration period. Its turn out is being far greater than it should be.
Okay now he is why SE should never, ever make a NPC Casino. It would double-triple inflation. NPC Casino's would have endless gil, and people do get lucky. It doesn't matter if four people lose 4 million gil, but then someone wins 50 million gil. "Hmmm I can't buy Kraken Club for 15 million?! I know, i'll bid 40 million gil". And the cycle will go on, until to the point there is over trillions of gil, being held in the value of end-game armors and weapons. Stuff that dead-end, without giving back to the failling market.
Hammer= Casino
Plate=FFXI
*Hammer smashes plate into pieces*
Now if SE would make a NPC Casino...
*Desecrates the ruins of the plate*
Kinda looks like Midgardsormr's AH atm.

hmm if it was like gold saucer youd need special currency in it like they had for ffvii and have most of the prizes rare/ex to prevent inflation problems from it, also id love to paly tetra master during playing ffxi then i would registers for it

kinda like purchasing tokens at chuck e cheese. but instead of getting gil back, how about rare/ex items? or JSE? that would keep inflation down and intrigue a lot of players, especially myself.
Yeah, Tetra master seems interesting, but it would be better if we can actually play it while were looking for group, waiting for a NM pop or just to kill time, but INSIDE FFXI.

Well im kinda tired of ppl crying about inflation in a mmo... first off if ur gonna bring in real life economics without modifiying it to a mmo specs ur just plain stupid to begin with in real life there is a limited supply of everything in a virtual world there is no limit the limit is on how long the game world lasts for its not like there can only be X of this item spawned and traded around in the wrold at any given time, altho some items may do that crafting items do not... so please someone either make a economic model for this game or do not start comparing it to real life economics and saying stuff like inflation and crap ... every game has inflation look at Ultima online I remember 2 yrs ago 1mil was a shit load of cash now.... 10 mil is panzy cash and 20 mil is alot and ur rich if u have 30-40 its all becasue the world does not limit items drops to a certain ammount so.. please stop crying about inflation its gonna happen sooner or later and IMHO i hope it happens sooner because everyone will benefit eventually becasue items will get more expensive and u will be able to play the AH easier and other fun stuff like that and common drops become worth more so... long run everything evens out .... so cheer on inflation if anything ppl are not gonna lower prices jsut becasue u a few 1000 ppl cry about it.... becasue most of the people that cry about it give in and buy the shit they cried about ... sorry thats really un organized but i been up for 47hours now .. good day
