View Full Version : Which server is the cheapest?

taking everything into account, which server from the huge list, is the cheapest? Midgardsormr has its large gil seller community, as well as inflation. Hades has a extremely large crafter community, also, helping lower prices. But by comparing prices for some pretty mainstream items such as scorpion harness, haubergeon, etc, i would appreciate seeing which servers are actually the cheapest and lest infested with gil sellers.

all servers are infected with gil sellers. the problem isn't so much the gil sellers as it is the gil buyers. so the real question you should be asking is which server has the least amount of gil buyers?

it's not Asura, that's for sure.

If you're looking for a cheap server, Asura is not it.

But in reality, it will be much the same anywhere, regardless of inflation.

For example:

On Asura, many of the most sought-after items are rising to just ludicrous prices (I've seen as high as 1.5 million for Ochiudo's Kote, nearly 2 million for an Emperor Hairpin), but while the average item is ridiculously expensive, many of the items even new players can aquire are also really costly.

Silk threads, which any new person starting in Windurst can easily farm by the time they're level 6 or 7, are often 20k a stack or so. Many other easily obtained items are much the same way.

As such, the inflation is universal. Gil just isn't worth as much, due to how much is available and how easy it is to aquire.

I wouldn't look for a server with the lowest prices, I'd try to find one with a healthier economy, a strong crafter base, and one with active BCNM parties so those sorts of drops are regularly available.

I'm not sure there is a cheap server anymore.
If nothing else, I can say Fairy is among the inflated. Which has annoyed me a lot, especially in recent weeks. Quite though, I agree with what amastacia just said. You'll want a server with a healthy, and steady economy.

Which server that is.. I am at a loss to say.
To be honest though, it's not surprising there are so many gil sellers\buyers these days. The inflation just gets worse, and the gil sellers make out like bandits while the buyers are left with not much choice but to keep buying more and more gil. I wish something could break the cycle, but I doubt we'll be seeing anything anytime soon..

The prices on Asura are getting stupid, Zinc ore can get as low as 500 and suddenly shoot up to 1000-1500 gil a piece for a few days.

I really want a pair of leaping boots, and reading very old posts on this forum makes me wish I had started playing earlier, 1million gil is too much for me.

you can sell stuff for more in the auction house to tho, it kinda offsets the high price a little bit... earth crystals went from poorly 300gil per stack to 1,000-1,500 per stack now for example. you can make 50k+ gil a day if you really take your time to farm it....

Midgardsormr has some of the funkiest prices I have heard of.

Ice staff was, at the time of US Release, 250k ...... now it is anywhere from 60-80k (pending on the economy's supply and demand.) Dark Staff was 300k at US release... now it can be found at 250-350k.

A stack of Beetle Jaws (important to us crafters) is 30k! ... Some of the most non-important things are so high priced.... and some of the really important items are even higher.

If you want a crazy ass economy that is always changing (sometimes for the worst).... Go Midgardsormr.

I've also noticed this. When I first started TRYING to camp leaping lizzy for the boots, it sold for 250-300k. Prices are just ridiculous now!

Earth Crystals used to be 300g a stack on Fairy, then at some point became 500g a stack. (This was for a very long time, almost a year.) Now.. They're 1k a stack.. The price jumped sometime a few months ago, and it has yet to go down.

All Crystal prices are a bit crazy though.. I saw Fire Crystals going for 7k a stack recently.. That's as much as Dark Crystals are worth. >_>

No idea what the prices were on those items during US release, but.. 60-80k for an Ice Staff and 250-350k for a Dark Staff used to be the norm for Fairy. Ice Staff has gone up to as much as 200k though, currently about 150k.. Dark not sure about..

Yes Midgard is quite vexing. I am approaching Raise 3 quickly and was quite excited about the price drop after the new ways to get it were implemented. It went down to 1.3 million at one point. But promptly shot back up to 2.5 million the last time I looked. Nothing is ever set in stone in Midgard! LOL

Gilgamesh seems to be a little more inflated than previously, but things have been going down lately. Raise III which was once as high as 2.5 million has stabilised at around 400k. Elemental staves have dropped 100k or so since 4-5 months ago with the important ones relatively cheap.

On Phoenix, Raise 3 is also hovering around 400k ish. Ice staff as low as 25k Pin and Boots and Kote are all under 1 mil. All 3 going between 600-800k actually. Fire Crystals finally cooming down to about 4.5k a stack, still more than light and dark crystals both of which are 4k a stackwild onions at one point in the near past shot up to an impressive 8.5k a stack.

prices are always adjusted by supply and demand. as more and more people go into one type of synth you can bet that key synth items for those will rise as well. I've seen rosewood/mahoganies/oak go up ~50% in price @ carbuncle; if you look closely though, some items are hit even harder. Demon arrowheads have shot up to insane levels (I think 60k a stack) while prices for arrows themselves have stayed at the same 8K it was when I was paying ~30k a stack for the heads. It's likely to stay as well, since it's the best synth available at that level of woodworking. Lancewood has gone from 30k to 110k over the last 3 months or so; doesn't matter to me any longer as I've passed that stage, but until it hits ~200k (when just making the adaman pole will be cheaper depending on the price of adaman @ that time) the price hike is not likely to stop. Surprisingly HQ Stave prices have stayed fairly high; this does correlate with the near-impossibility of raising goldsmithing though.

(@ woodworking max you can go up to skill 106 with all the +woodwork equip and furniture; @ skill31+ you go to the next rung of HQ success rates, which makes elemental stave making fairly lucrative... as long as you have someone that has gold ~87 around. Many of the key items in GS have been depleted in stock by higher-lv goldsmiths that would rather make small profits out of lower-lv HQs while killing off chances for competition)

You can ignore the above BS and play on whatever damn server you want, though; as long as you don't care about spending some time on quests or don't care about items with slightly lower stat enhancements, there are quite a few items around that'll get you just as much of an enhancement as will the expensive ones (sniper ring replacements thru quests, emp hairpin alternatives thru multi-fly NM @ Riverne, etc etc). If even that seems bad, stay with the more reasonably priced stuff in the AH -- in most cases there arent insane differences in power output by having a little bit extra in stats, and using HQ foods/holding on to multiple types of food for different encounters will more than make up for the difference.

Once you get to the level you want and start doing whatever the hell you want, it doesn't really matter if you have the bleeding edge equip anyway... after selling off my +3 rings by accident (never bothered to buy the +4 ints lol) I've been using eremite rings when I blm.

It sounds like almost every server is wacked out.

I think S-E should just take the game down for a day and reset the economy. Can you imagine... playing the game with the intial economy.... that would kick ass. Yes some prices would be raised and some would be lowered... but I think it would be great to start over - even though there is nothing that is stopping the economy from turning wacky again.

I dunno... thats my 0.02

Exactly, it would just go out of wack again. Once people have tasted greed, they won't go back. But your right, it would be nice to see the prices go back to the way it was in the good old days. Us old people like to say that a lot. LOL

how would you reset economy when people already pretty much recognize item prices

From what I've seen, Titan has some of the lowest prices of any server. My brother plays on that server and I have always been jealous of the prices. I think they may have gone up more recently, but I'll bet they're still lower than other servers.

bismarck prices have gotten horribly lately but i've heard good stuff from hades.

You got some hauberks for 3.5~ mil got up to 3.8 and now down to 3.4

Vermillion cloaks used to be 3.5 mil just 2 months ago has jumped to 5.6+ million.

Scorp harness which was 5 mil after the scorp bcnm first released, has climbed back up to 7.5 million

HQ staffs are around 800k low, to 1.6 million for thunder HQ. NQ are around 200k ish.

Leaping boots and emperor hairpin are both over 1.1 mil give or take.

O. kotes were over 1.4-5 mil last I checked.

Demon arrow heads have gone up to 80k... arrow prices won't move past 10~14k >.<

I blew like 400k to lv damn woodworking to 69 off these things. I calculated it out, I was paying some 40k for 0.1 skill.

Also it's of note that all the HQ elemental staffs on the server are basically sold by 2 people. One of the characters is a mule so maybe it's the same guy. But anyways you look at it, that's one hell of a monopoly.
