Having a friend who is a GM - plus myself (who was a GM in the game Lineage 2 during Beta) ..... I totally understand all of this. Good job with the questions and thanks for the posting. Takaar is a great guy... and the only reason why I say his name is because you missed a spot where you needed to blur out. lol
Thanks for posting that. I hope alot of people read it.

Yeah taking pictures of a screen with a digital camera sucks, I've done it before.
GMs can't be like in beta because there was only one server in beta and less people on that server than on most of the current servers.

I think SE are to strics with their rules.
I mean so what if a GM chat in town sometime and just answer simple questions? If someone is stucked somewhere and will die if he/shes trying to get out and a GM came and helped do you seriously thing anyone would get mad at that GM?
Ofcourse not! They would get extremly happy and posetive about GMs in general, I mean ofcourse they can't help with everything all the time and they are proabably busy 99% of the time. But if they aren't busy they might see something and make a player happy and belive in the services FFXI can give. I got a friend who quit the game because of the way he was treated when he asked for help about his game. It didn't work properly and they only said that they cannot do anything about it or something similar.
Easen up the rules and let the GMs decide for themselves what is proper actions for that situations instead of always follow this scheme so it will always turn out with "We will investigate in this matter but there is no way we will inform you about the outcome so you can sit there and actually belive we actually do something"
If someone got more than one GM call about being a gilseller, mpker or botter he should get a warning from a GM saying that if he hear anything more about this he will get banned, even tho he might not because they need better proofs. I mean if they say that and they are botters they might get so scared so they stop botting.
SE let the GM use more of their own common sense instead of just telling everyone that they should b.list the person whos annoying. Yeah sure helps me claim a NM because I b.list the botter >> It seems like the players wishes does not reach through at all! There are lots of good ideas made by players for players which just won't reach through. It's like SE sit there in their important room and just reject everything the players ask for. And if they do respond to Any of those requests please tell us so we know that we affected the game in some way. Maybe put on playonline.com how many people who have actually been banned and add any idea brought into the game by players.
If you complain to a GM or send a mail to SE it seems there is 100% chance that you will never hear aboout that again. I just don't like that system at all. I don't want to feel unimportant and I don't think anyone else want that either. I want to know when I affect something and even if I don't I want to know why!
I'm done now but if anyone on SE actually sees this Think about it and proove to me that it wasn't just another waste of my time writing this. Even if you don't care atleast let us know that you won't do anything about it.
Thank you,
Slizze - Quetzalcoatle

Yeah, they would need more proof than 2 people saying they bot or sell gil. Otherwise, I could get together with a friend and call two GMs and say Bloodredpoet is a gil seller and botter and then he would get banned whether or not it was fair.

great job senoska  i think u handled that interview very well, asking the questions everyones been wanting to know the answer to. i have had the pleasure of communicating with the GM's a couple of times my self with variouse problems (and one time i unfortunatly missed out on interacting with a gm on an issue i was involved in). and i can defeinatly say just getting to speak with a GM is a great honor for me they are very polite and give u as much info as they can in regards to what u ask. people just need to keep in mind exactly what he said the bout the having cops but still being crime.
its like SE is the Goverment of FFXI and the GM's are the special forces assigned to deal with any problems. while they are there to help with problems if they went telling eveyrthing they were doing it would only give the criminals more insight on how to avoid them.
i really appreciate the job they have done for me and the rest of the world and will gladly defend them against any rants anyone may have against them.
*Edit*: and i will step forward and say yes close to when i first started i was buying gil online cause i didnt know how to make gil in the game to buy what i needed but i wasnt aware it was against SE policy (i didnt actually read th ewhole policy like most people do im sure) but as soon as i found out i spent all the gil i had bought on stuff from npcs, destroyed it all and deleted my character to start a new one after i notified a GMof my actions and choice they were very understanding and allowed me to keep playing scince i openly admited to what i had done wrong and corrected it.

Sorry I was so taken with what I wanted to say that I think I was a bit unclear, or maybe even very unclear.
I ment that after 2 GM calls that person should get a warning no matter what and if he is not a botter there is nothing he can do but if he Is a botter he might get so scared he stop using it.
Sorry if I am still unclear my english is not 100% because I come from Sweden, still take me serious please.

I understand what you are saying, maybe some people might be scared off if they get warnings. Others probably wouldn't realy care unless they actually heard of someone getting banned for this.

Grr. I posted a huge thing but accidently pressed "back" for some reason and everything was deleted. Well anyways, it was a thanks for posting the chat on FFXIO.
I also retyped your conversation with the GM, because the screenshots are kinda hard to read. I'll retype them again when I have the chance (homework now :( ), I was hoping you'd edit your first post and add it in for people to read it easier.
Edit: Sent you a PM, thread maker. Edit your first post with it if you want to. I believe it'll help readers understand a bit easier. I fixed up some grammer and took out some misc chat. ;)

i read half way through and the TV screen effect hurt my eyes XD i got to the gilsellers being bannd thing and IDK if you know this but the ppl that got bannd werent the ppl farming the gil it was the people making the transactions to sell the gil. The ppl on game that you see farming cant be band for the simple fact that they themselves dont send out the payments they send to another account that holds all the gill and then from that "mule" Account they sell the gill and it was thoes mule accounts that got bannd.

Heh, refference previous things I've posted with people complaining about GMs on this forum. You'd see what I said is very close to what that GM just said. There is good reasons too for a GM to not interact with the players unless called for.
If they are not careful the GM himself could end up triggering something and altering the progress of the game. So it's much safer to not even bother unless its really needed. This just boils down to that the players need to just put more faith in them instead of being so analytical and require physical proof themself.
It's a lot like the basis of many religions, you belive there is a supreme being. Yet you have no tangible proof of a supreme being existing, so why do you believe it exists then? Just got to really put more belief in that they are doing what they can. They enforce like policemen and yet exist in a life of being just a spirit in the game.
I know very well what those poor GMs get subjected to, I've done a position like that many times and my current job position is much like that also.

I understand the positions a GM has to take and some people expect them to be gods. I mean there a limit to what they can do and it's normal. People should be more appreciative of them, and it would be nice if they could intereact with the players and not be arrased or trown rocksat.
Maybe someday the world will be a better place and well get to see them running around. ^^

I have to say it cause I loved FFXI and I still have my charicter active but it is for all the reasons (i.e. impotence of GM's) that killed the game for me and forced me to WoW (not to metion my whole guild/ls). In that game if you exploit ONCE! A-buh-bye! I miss the story line and depth of FFXI so much but I just couldn't take the lame GM excuses in FFXI anymore. Blizzard reps rock. I guess it's cause the game is so popular they just don't need to hadn out second chances... I don't know I'm just a player like anyone ellse. Don't think I'm some fanboy of WoW or anything (I was the las hold out from my LS to go over) and they have their own issues but one thing they have all over SE is that they just don't take BS like mob stealers and gil sellers.
